Can I use ScopeBuddy to modify the gamescope settings of Gamemode?
Hi,
I am currently trying to make a PiP setup, whereas a video player stands on top as an overlay. It works great using GAMESCOPE_EXTERNAL_OVERLAY as a window property, but only in gamescope session that I create. It never worked in game mode. After a while, I realized it may be due to MangoHud. I think it's replacing the overlay I am trying to add myself. I want to run game mode without MangoHud, but I can't modify the gamescope-plus-session file as this is an immutable distro.
So, my question: is there a way i can use ScopeBuddy to modify/overwrites what gets fed to gamescope when I boot into gaming mode? Thanks.

im thinking maybe i could create a steam shortcut to an sh that restarts steam into scopebuddy
@HikariKnight is the person to talk to about scopebuddy
no you cannot use scopebuddy for that, scopebuddy will not touch gamescope if gamemode is detected, this is because it can only launch gamescope with whatever settings you add, it cannot modify a running program (steams container stuff will also prevent you from doing this). and you cannot launch gamescope inside gamescope.
hah thats too bad... thanks anyways!
do you think there's a way to remove the mangohud then?
Turn it off in the sidebar?
no not that way. turning it off that way results in a "empty" overlay. but there is an overlay nonetheless, so i cant put the overlay im making on top
in my tries i havent been able to display two overlays at the same time
You'd need to make a custom image and a custom session package
It's not possible to launch gamemode without mangoapp
