SaaS custom hostname DCV validation

Hi, We're utilising the Custom Hostnames functionality with a proxied fallback URL of sites.test.com (which points to an AWS ALB) and are looking for the correct configuration when adding custom hostnames using TXT validation. When adding a custom hostname for the first time, I need to add a pre-validation TXT record, e.g. _cf-custom-hostname.example.com or _cf-custom-hostname.test.example.com (some of our customers use subdomains, some not). Are there any further entries after this? I did a further TXT record of _acme-challenge.example.com or _acme-challenge.test.example.com which the Custom Hostnames UI prompted me to do - is this the same as DCV Delegation? Can I just query when I need to utilise the DCV Delegation for Custom Hostnames entries? We've got a mixture of domains, so I'm trying to gauge when it's relevant: - domains/subdomains managed via Zones in our Cloudflare account. The DNS is proxied back to our fallback URL. - domains/subdomains managed by Cloudflare, but in our customer accounts. Some DNS may be proxied, some not. - domains/subdomains not managed by Cloudflare and utilising external DNS. Thanks 🙂

You never need to use DCV. This is only to issue a certificate before the customer points their hostname to you. If a little downtime is no problem, then they only need to create the cname.
