Setting up a temporary server not on the default port
Ok, so I have a velocity/paper setup working as expected - no issues.
With tomorrow being April Fools, if its a good joke update, I want to set up a temp server for my players, but as its the April Fools, it has to be a vanilla jar.
I know its not possible without more work than its worth to put it behind velocity, but I cant set up the temp server on 25565 BECAUSE thats currently being used by velocity, and all my DNS just points to the dedicated server via A record and then velocity does the rest of the work.
So basically the question is - is there a way for me to set up a vanilla server using a proper domain like
aprilfools.domain.com
and have it point to IP:<port that isnt 25565>
, or would I be forced to give players IP:Port
to connect to the temporary server?5 Replies
vanillacord can hook up to your velocity proxy if that works with april fools versions
but that is possible with a SRV record if i understood correctly
bedrock wouldn't work though
Yea bedrock not a problem we’re Java only.
Is there a step by step? Sorry for asking I’m on my way to work and won’t be able to test till tonight.
Wanna test it was a current vanilla jar when I get home so I can get it working before the snapshot comes out.
what dns provider do you use?
