can’t boot, stuck on this screen indefinitely
I’m a pretty inexperienced linux user and this started happening after a forced restart. I am still able to boot windows on my old hard drive.
Is this an issue with my bazzite? Or is the SSD I use to run bazzite broken? How am I able to tell? Will I be able to recover the files on my SSD? Please answer in detailed instructions, as I am unfamiliar with terminal usage.

press Escape during the boot and then you'll hopefully be able to see where the boot is getting stuck, it will show a bunch of text on the screen
If you want to back up your stuff, you can boot any live ISO such as Linux Mint. Open the "Disks" application mount your main partition. All your important files should be in home/your-user-name folder

frozen here
Hmm yeah not seeing an error message. So it just stays there and then resets after a few minutes?
it stays there and doesn’t reset at all
I left it for 20 minutes once and nothing happened
And Bazzite used to work correctly before the forced restart?
yes
though it was in a weird state before I did the forced restart
My pc was on but my monitor refused to connect
it was probably in sleep mode? But I don’t know
I'd boot a live ISO like Linux Mint. Open the disks app and check the "smart" data on the drive to check the health of the disk.

You should be able to scan the partitions for errors in that tool too with the check filesystem option

You running with nvidia right? Sleep mode doesn't work that well with nvidia GPUs and Linux
yes I am using nvidia
I installed the linux mint iso and put it on my ventoy usb
But
when I try to start linux mint it just goes to a black screen with nothing else

I cannot go past this screen, if I press enter it just freezes with said black screen
Try something else like Ubuntu or Fedora. Maybe something is starting to break. Is Windows working properly or is that also giving issues?
tried ubuntu and same result
windows works fine but a new issue is starting to show up
every time I shut down windows my monitor acts like my pc shut down but my lights and fan are still on
is this a motherboard issue?
Hmmm, you might find that your hardware is starting to fail. Maybe a mainboard issue
When is the last time you reseated all the components and cleaned out all the dust in the case?
Assuming that it's a desktop, laptop is much harder
it is a desktop
I cleaned out the dust about a month ago, but reseating the components? varies massively per part
gpu was last taken out maybe a year ago
ram a few months I think
but the motherboard and related has been untouched since I got the computer
Maybe do some stress tests in Windows and see if everything seems stable or not
which was umm
2017 i believe
2018*
