Webdeveloper quit, how do I regain access to my domain and website?

My webdeveloper quit and is not responding. I need to regain control of my company's domain and my website. I cannot find help on Cloudflare's website... can anyone offer help here?

These links may help, but they only work when logged out. You can always use an Incognito Window or a Private Window to ensure you're logged out. If you know the email: https://dash.cloudflare.com/forgot-password If you know the email and have 2FA or email delivery issues: https://dash.cloudflare.com/login-help If you don't know the email: https://dash.cloudflare.com/forgot-email

Hi, @Hard@Work | R2 , I don't have access to the former webdeveloper's email. I also don't have access to their 2FA. Can you explain more about what I need to do? I'm concerned they may try to do something malicious and time is a factor to get them off my account. I followed the link for "don't know email" and all it did was send a notice to the email on file, which is my former developer's email. There must be a better solution here to support business owners... is there another way I can get help?

My developer had everything setup under his name, his email, his cell phone. I need to remove him, add myself, and gain control to access and manage my domain and website. All I know is that the service provided by Cloudlfare. I'm otherwise starting from zero here. is there a customer support phone number? How do I get help?

those didnt help. got any other suggestions? is there a manager on here? Thanks, Einstein... I've been trying that. Seriously, I'm asking for help. Can you point me to someone who can provide actual assistance? I have other domains on Two Cows and customer service is a lot easier. I'm doing the best I can here and not looking for difficult pushback. Yes, I'm aware. Is there no one here who can help? Yes, I was able to submit a ticket. I suppose that's the best I can expect is for someone at Cloudflare support to see it and offer assistance. I don't understand why they don't have an easier way to access tech support. I've confirmed that my website is being hosted on Cloudflare's servers. How do I access the cpanel or website admin page? Ok, thanks, I understand what you are saying and I appreciate it. Where would I see the login link to try and guess or at least to be at the page where one would login to gain access to the webpage to make updates to the website pages? For example, my other domains are on former eNom servers now hosted by Two Cows and they are WordPress sites. If I go to the wp-login page, I can enter my credentials to access the WP admin control panel and add/edit my website pages. What is the equivalent for websites hosted by Cloudflare? Is it the same as if it was Wordpress? I am not sure what they used to create the website with. Maybe its a wordpress theme or maybe it was basic html template, I don't know. I trying to determine as much as I can so that I can explore more troubleshooting. I found a help article for someone in a similar situation that said they had to create a new account and add the domain to the new account. When you start that process, a checklist pops up, but it is for transfering a domain and requires you to have the login credentials for both the registrar and then the web account. So I can't get past the same point I'm already at. It is an insane merry-go-round. From what you may know, how long does it generally take their tech support to respond to tickets? Days or weeks? The best I can determine, the registrar is publicdomainregistry.com and I can't find a login page. I've sent them an email, they have no phone support either. Right now I want the dev's hide. We are trying everyone who might have had a finger on the project, but all roads point to this one person who is not being responsive and there's justification for the behavior. They are having personal issues in their life and taking it out on the people around them and then they suddenly walked out and quit without leaving anything behind. I'm hoping they calm down and come to their senses, but in the meantime, it is holding up my business and we are stuck. *...there's "no" justification for their behavior... Ok Well, I submitted the support ticket and it seems that's all I can do for now. Once I get access to the CF account, the website appears on the dashboard screen, correct? And then when I click that domain name, it will take me to the website control panel? Unfortunately not. That's what I'm trying to figure out... what did this guy do and how did he create out account. I'm not familiar with CF and it just seems clunky compared to other "commercial" sites that are easier to navigate and more user/idiot-friendly. OK, that will be where I look next... to verify which servers- AWS or whatever.

yeah you'll get nowhere without that. bottom line is you don't own this thing that you thought you owned, your former developer does. you can perhaps recover ownership of it, but it's not going to be easy and it's not going to start at the cloudflare end in this circumstance you likely won't be able to get access to the existing cloudflare account, but if you can recover ownership of both the hosting service and the domain name, support can help you make a new account and get that working instead

I inherited the problem from a business partner. I'm digging through accounts like this and discovering issues. I would normally have better management controls in place to avoid this and it was their "person" who was doing the work. I could sense something wasn't right because the feedback was vague and always excuses. So stepped in, uncovered the drama, and now trying to fix it after the fact. Very frustrating.

yeah. so your fundamental problem is you just don't own any of this stuff and are going to have to get it back somehow, and if you're really lucky, you'll be able to do this without paying a lawyer

Ok, thanks. I'll come back later and check new messages. Gonna switch gears to the next fire. Thanks again and if you think of anything please keep adding because it may help others. I'll be back shortly.

the easy way out of this is getting the developer to hand over ownership of it all. anything else is going to take ages and cost money

Yes, I agree. I've asked the rest of the team to backup the data.
