Games Crashing

I am extremely new to linux(installed bazzite last night), so please bare with me. Every time I try to launch a game, I can get to the "start" screen, sometimes I can get into the game itself then it freezes, other times it will just freeze at the start menu. Where would you start the troubleshooting process? I really want this to work, but I have no idea where to begin. Thanks in advance!

that depends, first which image are you using (rpm-ostree status), then is this happening on every game or specific game, if specific then which game

I have only been able to try two games so far, God of war 2018 and hellblade.do I just type that command into the prompt and it will tell me which image I'm using? Please forgive me of my ignorance, this is a whole new ball game.

seems fine, did you try any lighter game? if you cant then try PROTON_LOG=1 %command% as launch option it should output something like 1593500.log in your home dir

I will try a lighter game tonight, but I was able to boot up GoW, and access the graphics settings. They were all on ultra. So I dialed them back to original, added balanced fsr, and ran the game with playable frame rates for about 10 min with no issues. Obviously that's not a ton of time but enough to get me feeling better for the time being. Is that normal for a system to just "lock up" if it's overstressed like mine presumably was?
