black screen issue
ever since "she who shall not be named" got maintenance, i haven't been able to open valorant. I open the game, see a black screen for 15-25 seconds, then it closes.
I have done the following (in order):
- reinstalled valorant/riot client
- ran val. as admin
- switched vanguard firewall on and off
- changed fullscreen optimization
- changed vgc startup to auto
- removed vanguard from windows malware wtv the thing is
- updated my driver to the latest version
- rolled back my driver back to 2024
- updated my driver to february 27th
- switched vgc startup back to manual
nothing works. I'm floored. if you have any solutions, or even if youre just dealing with the exact same thing, please let me know. thanks.

Open task manager > performance tab
Open gpu tab
Show ss

do you mean cpu tab? or is this okay.
Press windows key
Type Installed apps and open it
From there delete everything related to NVIDIA including control panel
Then download and install the driver:
https://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/572.83/572.83-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql.exe
and download the nvidia control panel from Microsoft Store
been following your advice, now i literally cant reinstall the nvidia app. i followed its support page, did all five steps, rebooted, nothing.
You canβt reinstall ?
Download this
https://www.wagnardsoft.com/DDU/download/DDU%20v18.1.0.0_setup.exe
Already used DDU
still cant
Should I have clicked on restart instead of shutdown for DDU?
Did you use ddu in safe boot
I did
Yes clean and restart
And install this after it restarts
I can put my computer back in safemode and still restart even though I already cleaned up with a shutdown?
Or since I cleaned up already, do I not have to do all of that?
Hm just run ddu again with clean and restart
And install the driver when it restarts
got it
doing that rn

did everything you asked
should i try going to my devide manager and update it from there?
Hm
Exit safe boot
alr out
Open task manager > performance
Show cpu tab ss

back here again
Quick Q, you tried to install the driver in safe boot right?
the driver? no.
I used DDU in safeboot.
I'll install the driver in safe boot, then.
Try installing the first link i sent
Just ask him to get the nvidia app maybe?
The last link I sent was for the nvidia app
^
oh ok.
so the driver works now, but the app still doesnt.
i tried opening the app while in safeboot, didn't work, so i followed its advice to uninstall and reboot.
should i try reinstalling the nvidia app in safeboot now?
okay well the app still wont open, but im gonna try opening up valorant anyway and seeingif it works.
if it doesn't, honestly i give up
It's a bug and they said they'll fix it.
but drivers might fix it
nopeβforgot ti update! it opened.
ngl i dont actually know how it even got fixed but here we are i guess
They probably updated or the drivers.
:pepesidestare:
Nah uh
Without updating the drivers it wonβt fix
