Chunky starts really fast then becomes unbearably slow
I have a minecraft earth server running on Paper 1.21.4 with roughly 20 plugins, including bluemap and chunky. My server has 8 GB of ram and 3 CPU cores at it's disposal. It's only using about 1 full CPU core usually, and 4.50 gb of ram on idle. With chunky, its using all CPU cores to the max, and 5.68 GB of ram. At first chunky starts out and pregenerates really fast, then it goes to as low as 15 chunks per second, and from there remains at an average of 25 chunks per second. My earth map is pretty big, coming in at 49152 x 24576. I've attached an important section of chunky messages. Help would be greatly appreciated!

You can try chunker
alr thx! will try
ty for the feedback, chunker is way faster but not as fast as i hoped it would, if you have any other recommandations or things i could try, tell me, otherwise ill mark as solved.
you can set it to use all 3
oh misread
nvm
read it as chunky using 1 thread
i didnt even change how many threads chunky uses, i dont know how to
paper-global.yml
that i did change
didnt do anything
Then there's nothing else to change
To what values?
i started with 2
then 3
then 4
did nothing
the default was -1
Then idk, because I was able to get ~230cps on paper and ~600 on fabric
maybe its bcuz the cpu is a shared vcpu?
the memory was pretty fine but the cpu was struggling to breathe
still struggling with chunker but way better now anyways
chunker usually crashes a few minutes after starting a pregen..i think out of memory... is my 8 gb of ram and 3 shared vcpu core server that bad?
I think its a problem in your startup cmd or host in general
i used 11.4gb of ram and 3vcpu dedicated at bloom and its fine for me
my startup command uses all the garbage collection flags, a few other things and 4 gb of ram minimum 8 gb of ram max
I recommend to set the -xms and -xmx value the same
Doesnt do anything for performance
In modern java
oh really? will do new research for this :moderator:
It starts fast because its going over already finished chunks
The speed after is the actual speed
