Proton Drive

Was there an equivalent app that could be used to sync up to Proton Drive since Bazzite touts itself as cloud native? I don't see any specific flatpaks in Discover that might work for this.

This one look promising https://github.com/hwittenborn/celeste I don't use proton, so I can't confirm that it works for that, but it does work for Dropbox and Google Drive. It does say that it supports Proton Drive.

It's based on rclone though which Proton has said they will block so I'm not too hopeful... šŸ˜¦

When did Proton say they will block rclone?

I have tried celeste for Proton Drive and it is painfully slow to the point of being completely impractical I would look at using a different cloud service unfortunately. If you don't need cloud and device-to-device is ok, syncthing is also good

You might want to actually read that. Proton never said they blocked rclone. His aggressive sync settings triggered an automatic block, which they then tweaked so it would not happen again so easily. Btw: They are planning to make Linux apps for drive, most of their devs use Linux themselves. But their ceo said it's their most complicated service to develop for Linux. (He named the many different file systems as one of the reasons.) And that they simply don't have the resources right now to work on it.

Support literally said itā€™s incompatible, which sounds a lot like blocked to me: ā€œPlease be advised that Rclone is incompatible with our service, so using it will generate multiple unsuccessful logs, which triggers our security system.ā€ I donā€™t really care that their devs use it, I care that I canā€™t use it. If theyā€™re going to position the company as privacy focused, then they should give me the tools to do that. It was already painful enough to move email providers. Failing that, an option to purchase month by month instead of multiple years in advance seems like an offering I could be amenable to so I can easily change to something that does suit my needs (Black Friday 50% sales where you have to switch over your entire account instead of extending your subscription, Iā€™m looking at you). As it stands, rclone with Mega sounds like the better option here.

You need to read the actual response from the official proton team, not what some random dude on Reddit claims. And no, "not officially compatible" is definitely NOT the same as them "blocking rclone". It does indeed work, I used it the other day. And they literally say that you can use it, which you would know if you had read all the information provided by YOUR link. Just because things don't work the way you want them to doesn't mean you should spread false information. I don't even understand what their focus on privacy has to do with the availability of a sync client. You can always use a browser even if rclone would not work.
