Games running at low FPS and maxing out RTX 5070
Hello! I'm having what I would assume is a very, very niche issue but I figured it'd still be worth it to check here for help. I recently upgraded from a 2070 to a 5070 (big mistake, I know), and moved from PopOS to Bazzite to run it. Bazzite had the proper driver support and worked out of the box with it.
Unfortunately I was very, very ambitious and wanted to learn how to set up a VM with looking glass and VFIO so I could stop dual booting. I manged to do that and everything has been going great, my GPU can passthough and games run great on my VM.
My issue, is that I though that with Prime I would be able to play games on Linux with no issues after reenabling the nvidia drivers. When I opened Overwatch 2 I'm getting about 15 fps on the lowest settings and my GPU is being maxed out in nvtop. Other games see similar issues. Here are the launch options I'm using for Overwatch 2 currently:
NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_SKIP_CLEANUP=1 %command%
I'm still somewhat green to Linux only using it for about 2 years so I'm not sure where to begin troubleshooting this issue.
I'd appreciate any help with this issue that was likely of my own ambitious doing.
Thank you

I'm assuming it's something with the Nvidia drivers because I've tried running the latest drivers on a different distro with the same results. As well as testing kde and gnome and having the same results.
Back to Windows for me for now I guess 🙃...

I just realized in nvtop my GPU is showing as PCIe Gen3, maybe that'd be why I'm having issuses? Running Overwatch in my VM it runs fine at Max settings but on Linux it's tanking hard still. I'm on the latest open drivers 570.124.04.
I've determined it's not an issue with prime, I've plugged directly into the gpu, turned off integrated graphics and it nets the same performance. Might be an issue with proton or the drivers themselves? Although playing Minecraft with raytraced shaders worked rather flawlessly which leaves me to believe it's something in my proton configuration now.
