Nvidia Pascal steam game mode?...

Hey everyone. I just got into bazzite because I like the concept of turning my PC into a HTPC with Steam game mode and to use the system resources as much as possible. Just a console experience. Now my question. Why are NVIDIA Pascal and Maxwell architectures not supported? They still receive driver updates and support vulkan 1.3 which seems to be a requirement for bazzite in general. So what's the catch then? I'm just very curious. I plan to move my furniture. And that includes transforming my PC into a HTPC console :steam: Any explanation is much appreciated! :) P.s.: I'm familiar with some Linux stuff and have used some other distros too
Solution:
we will never do it since the support will vanish as soon as nvidia drops support. plus their proprietary driver does not work with gamemode last we tried (and nvidia has said they will not do any more features for the proprietary drivers, only security fixes)...

afaik nvidia-deck (htpc) image update is currently paused because of driver bug, also the image are only built against open driver which doesnt support gpu older than 16xx anyway the experience is quite buggy even on newer nvidia card because of nvidia driver doesnt exactly play nice with gamescope session

So is it possible or not? Or simply not in the plans? Because Pascal = Old ? Because to me it sounds like it's possible, but not the priority.

so we will not waste our time to make a beta image for it if it worked and then to kill it next year or something Pascal is sadly a dead end turing and newer is what will be supported as it uses the open source kernel module, meaning nvk will support it

Damn… somewhat sad to hear cause I don’t want to upgrade just yet. It still performs good enough for me.. :( 50 Series is full of problems and availability in general is bad (also including the 9070 from AMD) Damn you nvidia… But thank you very much for the explanation and time✌️ Makes sense. That would really be a waste of time. I‘ll mark this as solved
