Warframe Launcher stuck then crash
Hello, I jumped to Linux and ended up using Bazzite for 2 weeks with no problem. But suddenly my Launcher can't go past Checking update without me changing anything from fresh install.
The thing is, I remember getting the same problem years ago in windows 10 and quitting for a while because of that. I only return on March this year and it almost techrot to boot.. What I already did :
-Reinstall several times and changing game directory
-Changing compatibilities via stem, getting protonGE
-trying nonsteam and running form Launcher
-Using tweaks showed on Protondb
-Updating everything
-Submitting tickets but DE only support windows troubleshooting
-Looking around in Forums, but mostly unsolved
If it help, I use I5 with old AMD Radeon R5 340 with still 100gb+ free harddisk. I literally tweak nothing so im sure its not hardware problem. It ran fine even in EDA boss. I also attaching edited Log because it was 200mb, but what I attach already give everything because the rest of lines are just repeating

plus mesa has been a bit funky with its version 25 release, so i figured you should rebase to an older version with mesa 24 and see if it still crashes there

when was the last time you played warframe on this hardware?
Last week, about 14 March. Game was fine out of the box with Proton Hotfix on Steam
Played about 3 days without problem
have you tried toggling the hardware acceleration option in the launcher settings?
Yes, I toggle everything on and off. Also trying Optimize and Verify, but the Launcher become not responding in seconds after launched. The directX and performance toggle always greyed out, unresponsive, so can't be changed
i'll have to check if it works on my machine in the evening, maybe they broke something in the latest update so it doesn't work with proton anymore, happens
Been on similar situation even on its native OS, windows. I already expect things to happen.
Thank you for your time, I'll look around as well.
i play warframe daily, had no issues this morning.
either your issue will be in the proton prefix or some of the files are corrupt (or you use the wrong proton version)
I also run warframe inside gamescope because i like enabling HDR 😛
also keep in mind that the "update" progress in warframes launcher does not work in linux, so if there is an update it will look like its just infinitely "loading" the play button as it will be greyed out, until the update is done
it is literally the only linux specific bug they have
lets see on my legion go i just use warframe with proton experimental (not GE)
and it starts fine
so my guess would be your proton prefix (in the compatdata folder) being broken

Yup, I did try to reinstall proton/wine related data and even accidentally deleted windows fonts. I will dig try to look for the data directory to delete everything manually later. Thanks for the suggestion
As the update progress bug, sadly I got that even in Windows back then and even made me quit playing for years. So just my luck on that part
on linux its just that their launcher fails to update the ui progressbar past "checking for updates"
Ow thats not mine then
you can still look at network usage to see if its still downloading in your task manager/system monitor
Oh, I forgot to add that on my attachment. Will do that later when Im on that machine.
Somehow there's no network activity, only an occasional bit/second and the system manager doesn't recognize Launcher/Warframe on application tabs. I'll do more thorough search on Process tabs later
if you told it to optimize the files, it uses 0 network, its just defragmenting the files and removing old irrelevant data from the client
Noted
Deleted compatdata and theres a progress, kinda.. instead of stuck and crash on checking update now im stuck and crash on checking network :clueless:

if its still crashing, try an older version with older mesa
i just noticed how ancient your graphic card is, it is literally below what we recommend and support
so if its still having issues try rebasing to an older stable version of bazzite and check that
Indeed its an ancient one. I'm actually fine if its just cant run it from the beginning, what confused me is just that it actually ran well for 3 days and then stopped with no reason. I think I'll just tinker while waiting till after Warframe big Techrot update before deciding.
Thank you for your time 👍
proton is very picky and requires specific vulkan 1.2 features which are present on RX4xx cards and newer
previous cards had incomplete implementations.

yeah works fine on my end too, although my machine is considerably more... fresh
Been reading about it on several different forum and wanna try to downgrade the mesa only but im stuck on how to downgrade because it apparently more difficult due to OStree, cant use dnf...
will try to rollback and see what'll happen
good luck, Tenno
Solved! Thank you for the quick answer and references my fellow Tennos!
youre on an atomic system, you downgrade everything or nothing since it is image based, cant downgrade just 1 thing (and risk breaking your system)
also since older mesa worked then there is a regression for the old card in mesa 25
