Duel boot help for caveman
Does anyone know a good way to duel boot with windows? Right now I gotta get to bios and turn off fast boot then manually select the drive with Bazzite on it. Then if I want window's I gotta enable fast boot and switch to the window's drive. For some reason window's won't launch if fast boot is disabled. I'm a bit of a caveman when it comes to tech though sorry if this question is something that's common sense to ya'll.

Do you have windows and bazzite on a separate drive?
Yeah they're on separate drives. Windows is on a SSD and bazzite on a nvme.
open dolphin (the KDE file explorer)
you should see this on the left hand side

click on the "Basic data partition" to mount it
after that, run in any terminal you want
you should see something in the lines of "windows installation detected"
Do I need to install that dolphin thing? Cuz when I tried to search it on bazite it just showed me the GameCube emulator
are you on the normal bazzite image?
or the gnome one
or the deck one
Gnome I'm using a Nvidia GPU and the video said that gnome worked better
ah
I followed a YouTube tutorial to get the dual boot thing working
gnome should work fine too
just use the gnome file manager to mount the drive
so that the script can actually see it
it should still be somewhere on the left
click once on the drive that windows is on
It says that it's already mounted I only have an option to unmount or format it so do I just follow the rest of your instructions?
yep
run
after that, you can run to make grub show on startup everytime, where windows will show up as a boot entry on grub.
and then set the boot option on your UEFI as Bazzite
It says it found two windows operating systems on my computer. I bet the other one is from the nvme drive. I took it out of a broken computer my brother had, I had formatted it but I guess it didn't delete everything like it said it would even so I bet it doesn't work. I'm going to run that configure grub show command and hopefully everything works good!
additionally, you can also run to add a script in steam to boot into windows
Oh I will definitely be doing that also! Is there a way to get a script like that on the window side of things so I can swap between them using steam?
for the windows side, you can just reboot directly to bazzite
assuming in the UEFI, you set the boot order to be bazzite first
Oh okay lol sorry for the caveman question there!
no worries, we've all been there
👍
if you want to boot back into windows, you can select windows using the arrow keys on the keyboard, when grub shows on startup
Man I can barely work my smartphone. I'm 26 but was raised by my grandparents on things like flip phones, I literally had to ask one of my friends how I change the volume on my first smartphone in high school and he looked at me like I was a different creature lmao
Thank you so much for your help!
You are welcome :)
