@amel here it is
ok, could you run these commands and post the output/share the screenshot:
flatpak remotes
flatpak list --app

try
flatpak update
then flatpak run -v org.videolan.VLC

Oh I didn’t type it correctly hold on
@amel

okay so it actually works when running from the terminal. if you tap on continue the app should just run like normal, then once it gets to normal vlc view you can exit
Yeah it opened up.
im guessing that once you exit vlc, and run
flatpak run org.qbittorrent.qBittorrent
, it will also run like normalLet me try
Yes it does open like normal
im not sure what could be causing this tbh, since it was working well on my end when i had KDE bazzite-deck (on gnome now and it's going well)
i did some digging and theres this github issue thread, with the last report being from last week, so it could very well be a KDE issue https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/4637

Would it be like a software update that will fix this or is this a permanent thing?
another thing i have on top of my head is you can try installing a menu entry editor and see if qbittorrent and vlc are listed
flatpak install flathub page.codeberg.libre_menu_editor.LibreMenuEditor
and of course if you installed an ISO from a while ago you can try running a system update and rebootIt’s an old iso???
if it is a KDE bug then a future KDE update would fix it (you don't have to do anything, just run system updates)
well idk when you downloaded the iso lol since you mentioned you've been trying for some time to install
I downloaded the iso just today. A fresh copy from the bazzite website
ah alright, so you used either the ISO from today (5 hours ago) or 2 days ago
5 hours ago
Well more like 3 hours ago
yeah that's the most recent then
i'm puzzled myself honestly, but for the time being i can suggest trying out the menu editor to see if
- new desktop entries are being created for flatpak apps
- if you could get it to show by playing around in there
I did this command and it installed successfully but I don’t know exactly what it is.
ok, if you open the app menu do you see something called "Main Menu"? you can also just use the search bar
if it's not present (like qbittorrent and vlc), you can run
flatpak run page.codeberg.libre_menu_editor.LibreMenuEditor
from the terminal
it's an app that manages .desktop entries (things that make your apps visible in start menu), what we could try to do is see if entries for qbit and VLC are thereI just see this

that's just the favorites/pinned part of the start menu (like in windows), you should tap on "All applications"
I see “menu editor”
Not main menu
yeah that's fine. just to be sure VLC and qbit doesn't show up in the All applications part too? all the way to the bottom?
They’re not at the bottom
ok, let's open menu editor. send me a pic after that

I tried searching VLC but nothing shows up
yeah that's odd. so the situation at hand is that:
i wanted to test if "Main Menu" showed up for you, but it didn't (for context, main menu looks like this:)

the app you opened is KDE's default menu editor
so if you search for VLC/Qbit using the search bar, they're not listed too right?
the way i see it right now, for some reason .desktop entries aren't being generated upon flatpak installs
but they are actually installed to your system (as proven by running
flatpak run APP-ID
)I think main menu is for gnome only
ehh not really, main menu works for non-GNOME systems it just uses a GTK interface
and alacarte isn't in flathub, so you won't find it in discover either

Won’t launch
flatpak run page.codeberg.libre_menu_editor.LibreMenuEditor
then scroll down to Q/V and see if qbit and vlc are there (probably not)
Ah yes it’s there
it's there?
click on it

cool, scroll down and see if the toggle i highlighted here is enabled. if it's disabled, enable it

Visibility is on
disable, save, enable, then save again and see if it makes a diff
It removed qbittorrent

Oh I need to show hidden
yea my bad i should have said so lol

perfect, just to make sure does it also display now if you click start menu and search for qbittorrent?
Yes it does
Let me try Spotify and see
have you done the same for VLC and Main Menu? if you haven't, you might want to try running
kbuildsycoca5 --noincremental
or yeah if ytou install spotify and it's not showing either you can run kbuildsycoca5 thenOkay yeah Spotify is showing up now on application list
automatically or not?
Yeah automatically

But now all applications doesn’t work. Is that because of main menu?
no, main menu shouldn't do that
if you reboot does it still happen?
condolences for your luck though
Let me restart and see
wait, this is kde 6 not 5 fml
if you ran
kbuildsycoca5 --noincremental
, and the app menu is still blank after reboot, try to run kbuildsycoca6 --noincremental
Okay reboot make all apps show up.
Downloaded telegram and now all apps not showing again.
okay great! disregard my previous msg then
But now, all apps is not showing again after installing telegram
what does
kbuildsycoca6 --noincremental
do if you try?Let me try
It’s running

Supposed to take a while?
if the command exited on its own (as in, you didn't do anything and bazzite@fedora:~& showed up then it should have been successful
all applications still empty?
Nothing happened. It just said “running” and that’s it
All apps still blank
yeah that's how it's supposed to be im p sure
Command didn’t exit on it own
Should I do 5?
i dont think you should, bazzite is running KDE Plasma 6 not 5
Alright. It didn’t do anything. Just says running and that’s it.
for now i think it's best for you install your necessary apps in one go, then reboot
and just to reassure, you should not have to go thru so much hoops for apps to show up in the app menu
I see. Well as long as I can get the apps to open up, as a workaround for now, it’s better than nothing at all.
@Valerie, you might want to check this out perhaps? plus i have limited KDE experience
perhaps this is worth reporting as a bug?
perhaps this is worth reporting as a bug?
You did amazing to help me out though, @amel I really really appreciate all you have done to help me.
