Second Monitor Freezes Until Restart

Thanks in advance for the assistance. I'm getting quite frustrated at this. I've searched the FAQs, but might have missed something. When playing a Steam game, the other monitor will randomly freeze up. Quitting the game does not unfreeze the second monitor. I have found two ways to unfreeze the second monitor. The first is to restart the computer. The second (which only works half of the time) is to unplug the monitors, wait about 5 seconds, then replug them. According to my Google search, this is something to do with NVidia's power management profiles. I'm supposed to switch to "Performance" mode instead of "On-Demand" mode, but I can't see that option anywhere. It's not in the Nvidia control panel software I have at the moment. This has persisted across all Fedora and Arch-based installations, but wasn't a problem under an Ubuntu-based installation. Assistance would be greatly appreciated. I like the Arch distros that I've tried more than the Ubuntu distros that I've tried, but this problem is just a dealbreaker. Currently running Bazzite with the Nvidia package selected prior to installation. GPU is an NVidia RTX 4070 Super. AMD CPU.

Might be a solution - if you are on Nvidia 570.124.04, I had many similar issues. I rebased Bazzite back to the last stable Bazzite with 570.86.16 and the issues stopped. There seeems to be a power management issue, sleep issue and kwin_wayland crashing with 570.124.04. Not everyone has these issues and its not just Bazzite / Atomic distros. I rebased to 41.20250227.1: Stable which was the last stable I found with 570.86.16 I also disabled Bazzite updates with the ujust command, for now. Maybe it will help, good luck.

I'm afraid I'm something of a novice and don't know how to rebase a distro.

https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/Updates_Rollbacks_and_Rebasing/rebase_guide/ Know what you will be doing is downgrading to a previous version of a couple of weeks since Bazzite is a continuous release.

you will also have to stop Bazzite from updating.

That's quite annoiying. But I'll definitely consider it. I may just end up going back to Ubuntu.

I would say possibly wait until Nvidia updates the driver to fix the issue. irebase only does the base OS, not your apps. but yea, read up on it.

Gotcha. How long do you expect that to take?

that might work for you Zarach. I wanted VRR so I went to 570.86.

This is really hard to follow. Even the summary post switches things up at least a few times. At this point, I will likely just use Ubuntu until there is a driver update. Is there any way to get notified when that happens?
