PBTA New Actor Type
Type: Informal update; json file tweaks and html sheet creation.
Short Description: I want to leverage the default "Other" Actor type as a placeholder for a "Steading" Actor type with its own layout.
Long Description:
- System: PBTA (https://foundryvtt.com/packages/pbta)
- Relevant Module: Stonetop (https://github.com/aMediocreDad/stonetop)
I've already been making my own tweaks to the files to add new fields and such. This is very much a placeholder job that I don't intend to take online in any capacity beyond my home games and nor do I intend to keep it updated as an official Stonetop module is on its own way and will wholly replace my bodge job.
The problem I have is that I don't know enough about the code to not accidentally break everything with dodgy schema and layouts and such, and it would take me ages to learn what an experienced persion could knock out in a couple of hours.
I've already made the basic v1 version of the html file that covers the layout of the Steading Actor sheet; I just need a way to get the PBTA system and Foundry to actually read and recognise it 😄
I will send you:
- all my pbta and stonetop foundry files so that you can make edits in them so as to not accidentally override the tweaks I've already made
- a visual reference of the Actor sheet for you to sanity check my garbage chatgpt html file against and probably improve
Your deliverable:
- sending me back the relevant pbta.json, en.json, stonetop, json, and steading-actor.html files when complete (as well as any other relevant files.
I will then make my own backup and just do a dirty file replacement into my foundry user data and create a static version for me to actually run my home game,
Budget:
- Ideally $30/hr. I'm open to being sanity checked on this because maybe I just don't understand the actual complexity involved, but I'm pretty sure this is maybe a 3 hour job. Sorry it's not a proper job 😅

Realise I can literally just provide some of the relevant files and references here to provide more info!
steading-sheet.html is my first pass of creating the actual sheet layout using good old dirty chatgpt. The image reference shows the actual attributes and such at play re: Fortunes, Surplus, Size/Popn, Prosperity, Defenses, Debilities. The actual Upgrade and Assets will just be Items that I create using the basic system info. I just can't figure out how to actually get foundry to give me this steading-sheet, because I don't know what relevant tweaks need to happen in the system or module files to get it to read properly.
to understand correctly, your intention is to update the stonetop module to add a new sheet?
I don't even necessarily want to update the actual module itself, tbh. I've just been making my own little tweaks to add new fields and values and such, but I've hit a dead end when it comes to actually creating a new Actor Sheet type :/
ah well, that's pretty simple
Yep! I just don't know how and my chatgpt-fu resulted in me breaking all the character sheets when I took it for a test run haha
Let me know if you've time to take it on; would love to get it knocked out over the weekend. I can send you all my files asap
Sure, send me what you have
Project Complete. Thank you kindly @joaquinp98 🙏
