I feel lost on pants,
Denim for the most part feels to basic to me and things like chinos feel too formal, and things like sweats feel too informal. I really don't know where to go from here, I just end up wearing jeans and adding nothing to the fit. I would honestly prefer something with a bit of color.

Olive green fatigues
Corduroy
Carpenter pants?
twill or duck pants
And I also hesitate to say denim is always too casual and chinos are too formal
what kinds of things are you wearing/would you like to wear with your pants (pics would help)
well for me personally, it feels like it. i'm in hick country, everyone wears jeans, no one wears chinos so i either look like i put no extra effort in or i look like i put "too much" in
as char said i think chinos aren't "too" formal (I'd argue sweatpants can work their way in less casual fits)
denim comes in all sorts of shapes. a change of cut might be useful.
Dickies or another work/skater pants probably would work for you too
I wear mostly like sweater polos, simple graphic overshirts. stuff like this

do you want to look like you put in extra effort?
while things like olive fatigues or orangish carpenter pants or more exaggerated denim (barrel cut jeans, etc.) would fit the bill, given your description of where you live and the graphic tops you like to wear i feel like you're probably going to stand out one way or another. might as well do so wearing stuff you truly like, even if it is a colorful chino
yk, you're probably right. i've just been kinda scared to take the plunge. ty, you guys are doing the lords work
any "entry level" places to get decent chinos? like <$100 a pair?
uniqlo, cos, abercrombie, j.crew classic or giant fit if on sale
i wore a pair of purple vintage abercrombie chinos to visit my family in trump country last year, no one (family, strangers) said a thing fwiw
ty
