Spicing up formal wedding suit
My wife wants me to wear my dark grey "business" suit to a formal wedding in Florida. What shirt, shoes, pocket square, tie options etc. can I do to make it a bit more fun and interesting?
This is the suit: https://suitsupply.com/en-us/men/suits/dark-grey-houndstooth-tailored-fit-havana-suit/P6926.html

Whatever she says
but if not that, it might be helpful to start with what you generally like to wear and what sort of vibe you're going for. Do you want to lean tropical? Louche 70s? Ivy?
Haha. She doesn’t care about my attire outside of that particular suit
I’m down for any style honestly
But what would you like? What do you like to wear usually? What would make you feel cool and comfortable?
Thought this was your wedding for a sec, my bad
Ohh yea my bad. Should have been more clear
nah you're good
Suit Supply has it with a light blue shirt and black loafers with a dark tie
I have black derby style black shoes, traditional black oxford, and I have light brown Oxford shoe, and medium brown double monk strap shoe
I'd go black shoes over brown for sure with that color
Dark brown can look nice but anything close to tan will start to look weird
Okay cool
I'd use tie and pocket square for the "fun" and "interesting" bits.
does the dress code say anything specific?
White shirt vs light blue?
I like white with charcoal
It does not. And the bride said that she doesn’t really care if I’m in a dark suit but my wife preferred I did so I wasn’t the “only one in lighter colors”
I feel like a florida wedding is begging for lighter colors
not to cause trouble 👿
For real
Venue is an old Spanish mansion too. I wish I could play around more with my wear
But the bride and groom are very traditional and basic
yeah, just dress normie for a night and keep the spotlight on them
fun pocket square and maybe tie for personality
Fun as in color or pattern or texture or all?
I have everything from dark to light, skinny to fat, shiny vs matte, knit vs traditional etc.
all of it, whatever looks good to you
use the suit lapels as a guide for tie width
doesn't need to match exactly but they should look proportional. Skinny tie with wide lapels and vice versa looks pretty odd
I prefer less texture for warm weather
it's festive so I don't think shiny is bad if you like that
Right on thanks 🙏🏼
I’ll try some stuff out while I wait to hear other opinions
dark knit tie can look nice with a charcoal suits
yeah post pics for more
Much appreciated
I like lilacs, purples on charcoal.
Oh that could be nice
Personally I like it when the width of the tie roughly matches with the width of the suit lapels.
Not precisely inch for inch but a balanced weight if that makes sense.
Okay thanks the input. Will go for this
My tie options. Will have black shoes and belt. My wife will be in hot pink dress.
Also, what color and style pocket square to match the tie choice?

Would love your opinion also @VoiceOfAuthoritah
I like the red one personally, but first and second are both solid choices. First for the “traditional” wedding look and second for a lil zhuzh
Honestly I think they all work and it's really up to what color you like, and maybe how they work with your complexion, wifey's POV, etc.
If I was choosing I'd probably lean towards the top 2 - Black (because I'm basic AF :Ayayay: ), and the dark blue knit (I like having more texture since everything else is solid)
I'm biased against red because I associate that with politicians but the texture helps a lot.
Thank you for the thoughtful opinion!
