cannibal - Just had a decoder go bad on my Snap...

Just had a decoder go bad on my Snap, is that common? It's the 74HC138N. I started having a dead key with the key next to it registering both characters. So I would press C and nothing would happen, but if I pressed X then the characters "XC" would register on the tester. I swapped the IC with the one on the other half of the Snap and then the right side started showing issue. This was after a week of use. I have a new IC on order from Amazon but was wondering if this is common or if there's a known reason the IC may have gone bad
Solution:
Following up on this, the replacement IC showed up today and swapping it out fixed the issue. Both halves are operational. I ordered the ICs off of amazon, pack of 30 was less than $10 USD. Now I have way more decoder/demultiplexers than I know what to do with haha

Just seems so strange it suddenly happened. Entirely possible it was a manufacturer defect but who knows. If it keeps happening I'll have more data points to chase down!
