Theyre supposed to be bigger so you can layer a liner under them So no, dont

Is this kind of the right approach with layers and colors?

Seems ok. Is there a type of look you are going for? Without any context on what you’re trying to achieve, the only thing (in my own opinion) that doesn’t quite sit right with my own eye is your light green layer It feels a little out of place and doesn’t help connect any of the rest of the colors

I guess the idea was something I'd wear to the office on a cold Spring day, without looking too casual, but having enough layers to be visually interesting and also help me fill out the parka What's your advice on colors - i feel like as I slow get into and learn about wardrobe pieces, I haven't really put much thought into fabrics and colors

without going into an essay, the best way to learn colors is to look at them a lot, then think about how they make you feel, what kind of context you give them. like, if you look at pastel colors, what kind of vibe does that give off? what do you associate with those spring? easter eggs? etc

any resource online that promises color pairing as a science is wrong

I guess to help me understand, what color would you have chosen for the mid layer (chore coat)

do you have inspo / looks that you like? its less about the "correct" color to use, more about how all the colors interact to give the final look you could do a darker navy than the (quarter zip?) underneath, or a charcoal. that is an easy combination, and results in more of a gradient where it looks intentional. that also creates the contrast between top and bottom whereas right now theres contrast between enough things where it does not look intentional but thats only one example and its more of a classic/traditional look. maybe your inspo is more colorful/untraditional
