Is this mini PC suitable for modded Server Hosting?
Good afternoon, I hope you are all doing well.
I've run many servers in the past, but all have been through a dedicated server host. I've probably thrown thousands of dollars at these hosts to run a server for a few months, just for my friend group and I to get bored of the game, close the server, and repeat the process in a few months.
I've decided that I would rather just invest in a proper PC specifically for hosting Minecraft servers whenever my friends and I are in the mood to play the game- but I'm also looking for something that takes up a small footprint, as I currently live in an RV.
I plan on running Ubuntu Server as the OS of choice, and I'll just set up a headless access to the server through my laptop. I've yet to decide if I'll use Crafty or Pterodactyl, but based on what I've read, Pterodactyl can be a bit of a hassle to set up, so I'll likely end up using Crafty.
I also plan on running 3 servers on it. One will be a heavily modded server, 300+ mods, and will only need to support 2-3 players at any given time.
One will be a lightly modded server, only 5-10 mods, and will need to support 10-20 players at any given time.
The other one will be a vanilla server (Probably running Paper, Pufferfish, or Fabric) and will need to support 0-5 players at any given time.
I've attached a photo of the mini PC I am looking at. Do you think the specs will be sufficient for my needs?
Additionally, I'm a bit worried about thermal throttling, being that it's a small form factor PC. I do have plenty of experience with PC case modding, and am willing to build a custom case to house the internals with a better cooling solution. I have a couple of 120mm noctua fans sitting around that I don't mind throwing on it.
Thank you in advance.

So you are home hosting?
Have you checked your isp supports it?
As long as you turn on/off each server separately it may handle it, will probably lag on 300 mods though
Honestly for $400 invest a lil bit more and for $500 you could get a nice desktop build
It'd be home hosting, yeah- and my ISP supports it. I've done home hosting on my personal laptop multiple times in the past, I just don't want to continue doing that.
The main reason I was looking at this PC specifically is because there is a $110 coupon for it, so it's really only $320, pre tax.
I could look into building an ITX desktop though, I just know myself- and I know I'll go overkill on whatever I build, that's the main reason I was looking at prebuilts LMAO
- U got at least 300mbps? Symetric? Fiber? Business Plan at minimum? No NAT or at least port fowarding?
- $320 will still get you a decent 5600X server, which may be the same if not better performance but good cooling
Actually my 5600X server was like $250
and in mexico, where part pricing sucks
I don't know much about mobile CPUs, that's my biggest concern.
I found a similar PC with a Ryzen 9 6900hx, which appears to have about 11% better single core performance than the Ryzen 7 5875u.
But that 11% performance increase wouldn't mean shit if the 5875u has shit performance.
get a 5600X

1gb speeds, fiber. Business plan. I can port forward, yeah.
Okay, that kindle settles it.
Cheers mate
Finally someone that at least has a biz line ðŸ˜
I mean a dedicated link would be better but you are just hosting friends so wtv
