domain trans

Tried Transfering my domain from wix to cloudflare and got an epp code from wix. Cloudflares transfer section on the dashboard says that there are no domains to be transfered it is a .com domain and wix support said its on cloudflares end to resolve now. Anyone else experience any issues with this? I dont even have anywhere to put the code in. I created a ticked with cloudflare but not sure when ill hear back. Any help is super appreciated.

You need to have a domain active in your CF account before you transfer it. You can't do this as Wix doesn't allow you to change your nameservers, so you can't transfer from Wix to Cloudflare directly.

Damn I thought that was old as the cloudflare steps never mentioned anything about it. Is that still how it works? So I likely gotta 3rd party transfer then transfer to cf? Is there a recommended registrar to use if thats the case? @Laudian It just surprises me that the instructions given by cloudflare wouldnt include swapping the nameservers over?

Where did you look that did not mention changing your nameservers to Cloudflare before a transfer?

@Laudian Thats my bad. The link cloudlfare gives for the steps pushes you too low on the page to see that part Thanks for the help Laudian. I assume then I will need to do a 3rd party transfer first. Any reccomendations?

Nope, no recommendations for Registrars from me. Why do you want to transfer to Cloudflare Registrar in the first place? Keep in mind that Cloudflare also doesn't allow you to change your nameservers.

Because wix doesnt allow me to change the nameservers to cloudlfare so i cant proxy any traffic through it first. I need it to setup WAF for my website. My understanding is the only way to actually proxy the traffic first through cloudflare is to have the nameservers be in theirs. Which as you know wix doesnt allow. So i figured id transfer domain to them and then forward to wix after traffic has been checked by cloudflare. Unfortunately it seems to do that I also need to change the nameservers lol I got double caught there...

I don't believe Wix works with Cloudflare proxy anyway.

My understanding was just because you cant change the nameservers to cloudflares it doesnt but if cloudflare owned the domain you can point traffic to wix's cdn after it passes through cloudflare

I didn't try it myself because custom domains on Wix are a paid feature, but there are a lot of people on the community trying to use proxy with Wix and it never works. https://community.cloudflare.com/t/connecting-a-domain-i-bought-from-cloudflare-to-my-wix-website/569160/9?u=laudian https://community.cloudflare.com/t/connecting-cloudflare-to-wix/636690/7?u=laudian But it's possible that you just need some additional settings on Cloudflare to make it work.

If they are greyclouded doesnt that essentially mean it isnt actually being proxied?

Yes, exactly.

So there is no actual way to make cloudflare secure traffic to wix website?

As I said, it might be possible with additional settings, but I haven't tried it. It definitely doesn't work out of the box.

No worries man thanks for the help. Never figured it would be so complex. I just assumed it would be as simple as pointing traffic from one place to another.
