this happened to me a few days ago on gnome, turns out fractional scaling was enabled for the deck display. i reverted back to 100% and everything started working fine again (can't remember if i had to restart steam or go back to game mode then go back to desktop mode). perhaps you could check display settings?

i'm sure kde display settings also had it i can't remember the exact name, but if you right click on the desktop and select the display settings thing iirc it will take you there

pic is from the net, but this is what i meant. if the issue is indeed scaling, the global scale would not be at 100%, and theoretically speaking setting it back to 100% would solve the problem

yeah that could work but im pretty sure they set it to 185% so everything wouldnt be too big or does it only work for apps i mean other programms just put it to 100% way too big also it didnt fix the keyboard issue 😭

yeah and back in again, and see if it helps. or maybe just close the steam app on desktop mode and restart it first bc when i had this in gnome i had to either restart steam first or go back to game mode or reboot, can't exactly remember lol

just one last question can i set it back to 185 or do i have to stick with 100 now
amel
amel•7d ago
for the deck display itself i think 100 is best, but if you have other displays with higher res then you can set them to higher %s but now that you know how to fix the issue i think it's a good idea to experiment

ill try setting it back to 100

like maybe try 125 or 150, restart steam, and see if the keyboard goes all funny again

did you reboot after setting it? also the alternative is apparently decky cssloader and a keyboard skin that allows resizing, enable for desktop and then resize it i dont use cssloader so i cant tell you what to use exactly past cssloader and a keyboard skin

i already fixed it im using desktop mode just fine now actually 150 is kind of better than 185
