Idk chem bonding hili hui hai 💀 Sigma bond + lone pair?
Prachi
Prachi•2mo ago
Yup

Noice lmao Yea dude just simply make the Lewis structure and count total Sigma bond it makes and how many lone pair it's outermost shell will have

Don't mind the extra lone pair down I forgot S has only 6 in 2nd shell hehehehe

So there's 2 Sigma bonds and one leftover lone pair sooo sp3

If you wanna know how sp2 hybridization came, then here 👇

There's some exception about it in p-block silicates. I think it is sp³

this I want to know about this where did you find this ? I can't find it online its sp2
Titan.

sp3 ? oh mb 1 lp + 2 sigma so stearing no is 3 so sp2

ik its wrong I am just sharing my attempt

Uhhh sorry I'm so dumb It's SiO2 which I was talking about.

Please see my approach Similar thing I did in case CO2 and I am getting the write hybridisation but not with SO2
Dexter
Dexter•2mo ago
sahi hai
Abhi
AbhiOP•2mo ago
not the getting the write hybridisation though

but since Two bonds banane hai bas isiliye sp2 hoga. ek lonepair hai s ka and two p orbitals Tu saare p orbitals kyun leraha hai 2 oxygen hai na bas 2 p orbitals will be used and last wala electron 3d mein hoga not 4s 3d ki energy only filling ke time zyada hoti hai

oh lone pairs ke wajah se ye hota hai I though using this method I don't have to care about lone pairs and without needing to know them I could find hybridisation
Dexter
Dexter•2mo ago
lone pairs take part in hybridization very important point steric number mein bhi to lete hi hai lone pairs ko
Abhi
AbhiOP•2mo ago
ik btw lone pairs hai ki nhi ye pta lagana ke kaunsa best method hai ? strucutres banake ? @Dexter

Dexter•2mo ago
yeah this structure se hi hybridization bhi nikaala karo pehle agar theory wala sawaal hai pehle check hybridization from structure then make the orbital diagram
Abhi
AbhiOP•2mo ago
ohk It takes time though but better than remembering formulas ig Is there any relation between molecular geometry and hybridisation ? ig not ?
Dexter
Dexter•2mo ago
mathematical relation? you can just learn them man Alot of exceptions alot of weird stufff
Abhi
AbhiOP•2mo ago
Yuh I was trying to relate stuff to each other but it made me even more confused

Yeah you can see how I did it I'll share Just basically this only but but I counted the electron in last shell then counted it backwards in excited state like in this case from 4s it went till 3s so I took all those orbital and did hybridization which will give s2p3 but since we have a lone pair removed, two orbital from last which 4s and 3pz which gives the hybridization as sp2

huh ?

6/2 = 3 sp2 hi toh hoga 💀

They say they don't use formulae.
