I wonder if the light shirt makes the red pop too much. Is there a change in the pants or shirt that would make the waistcoat work better?
Short answer: no.
Longer answer: this kind of deeply saturated colour/bright hue on a traditionally "formal" garment is incredibly difficult to do well in an everyday setting, to the extent that if you have to ask you probably can't achieve it.
waistcoat would work best under another jacket imo; matching would be ideal, but a different grey patterned sport coat could maybe work
@acutestyle does fits like this often albeit with blazer/sportcoat/suit; might be worth him looking up even if you're not wearing the exact same things
