What’s a good masculine ring for a guy in his mid-to-late 20s with medium-sized hands?

I tried on a silver ring (photos attached) but found it too small and minimalistic. I have medium-sized hands, slim wrists, and want to add some jewelry to give my outfits more character. I already wear a stainless steel Bulova watch—nothing fancy—and I’m still in college. Based on the United States. What kind of ring (or bracelet) would suit medium hands and slim wrists? My budget is around $110, but I can go higher if needed. • Pinky: ~7 • Index: ~10 • Wrist: ~16.5 cm

I don’t have the nicest hands, but I attached a photo of the stainless steel ring (size 7) and the Bulova watch I mentioned. I’m not sure if they go well together, and I don’t wear the ring because it’s loose and not silver or gold.

Any ring that you like I don't mean to be derivative but if you like it you should wear it Regardless of whether it is "masculine" or not

Lol I didn’t think my hands looked that feminine I agree—do what you like, not just to please others. I’m new to fashion and not sure what ring styles suit my hands. I got this stainless steel ring by searching “Jerusalem cross ring” on Amazon for $10. I’m still figuring out things like which finger to wear it on, whether to wear multiple rings, if it matches my watch, and whether gold or silver works better. I’m basically a novice at this lol

I think you need to try to disconnect jewellery from the feminine/masculine dichotomy Look for an aesthetic that you like and find rings based on that

senseofphysicsOP5d ago
That’s the other thing. What brands to go for, etc

My personal preference has been Frederick Grove, The Great Frog and jewellery sold by American Decay But that might not fit with what you like I think this channel https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1137088371055927416 has a lot of makers pinned that could be worth looking at

senseofphysicsOP5d ago
Yea, it might sound weird to ask, “which finger would a ring suit best on my hand?” Signet rings, skull rings, etc. Fredrick Grove feels very personalized, almost like choosing a tattoo

I started with the ring finger on my right hand (based in the UK so that's the non wedding band finger) but I now have rings I wear on my pointer and middle fingers
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
Alright cool. Also, what exactly did you mean by “disconnected jewelry from the feminine/masculine dichotomy”?
Soup
Soup5d ago
That jewellery isn't inherently feminine or masculine. If you like something you should wear it Like try not to view a design as feminine or masculine, it's just a design
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
I really like the Jerusalem cross, always have. I might find a sterling silver one. This is more of a personal question: Do you think the ring matches well with the watch and my hand in the above picture? As far as I know the colors match, and the ring isn’t too big for my hands. Also, what do you think of the silver signet ring in the first picture? I felt like that one was too minimalistic personally.

Going off the cross ring you might like stuff from Ecclesia https://ecclesiajewelry.com/

It really depends who you buy from. You can get recycled silver jewellery for not that much

two of my three rings were from local artisans, can normally get them for better prices than big chains too
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
Yea I’ll check locally as well Prices for Great Frog seem reasonable too And I imagine you can negotiate a bit
deltic

i wouldn’t not if it wasn’t a custom piece

Why not?

to me it would just come off as disrespectful, but i’m sure others here may think differently
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
I know what you mean actually Custom makes sense for sure But like, the other stuff I’m sure they’re priced like that for everyone
deltic
deltic5d ago
only thing i negotiate on is guitars and clothes lol
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
Dang I never negotiated on clothes lol I always just shopped at Macy’s during sales or whatever And now I just do online Bloomingdale’s or Nordstrom
deltic
deltic5d ago
clothed as in on depop and stuff haha
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
But like, there are so many mom and pop clothing stores in NYC (Brooklyn included), and people shop from there They’re usually women’s clothing though, and I think Manhattan prices are gonna be hefty lol
deltic
deltic5d ago
negotiating is one of those weird things for me. i scarcely feel comfortable doing it in person and definitely wouldn’t do it in a new clothes store. second hand shops it’d be vibe dependant but yeah local sellers could be the move, especially if you’re in NYC as i imagine you’ve got a good few
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
Definitely And I’m also browsing on Etsy for some ideas Never purchased from Etsy though lol
deltic

yeah you’ll probably have some luck on etsy

deltic
deltic5d ago
i’m in a similar boat, semi-broke uni student. you can definitely get good fashion on a budget, just gotta be smart and intentional with your purchases
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
Yea 100% Any brands you go for? Tbh too, I think the notorious gray sweatpants work like a charm at uni The college I go to is like a bum ass collage lol. People don’t have a sense of style. It’s more of a commuter college actually
deltic
deltic5d ago
i don’t often shop buy brands specifically, but i do have some saved searches for vintage l.l.bean, woolrich, wrangler and prl
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
Vintage ll bean is soo good They’ll outlast the newer products at LL bean I’m kinda all over the place, but I like Ralph Lauren, Paige, and suit supply
deltic
deltic5d ago
for sure trouble is there’s a degree of scarcity over here with good vintage LLBean which is a shame (Uk)
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
I also have a pair of red wing boots that I haven’t worn all year. Don’t know what to pair them with. I need a nice pair of jeans That’s another thing. Having clothes fit you well People’s sense of fashion in the UK is so much better than here

just judging by some of your messages here, ya gotta stop worrying about masculinity and getting girls etc
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP5d ago
I’m just fit or athletic, like how a college student from the 1950’s would look or whatever lol Yea man idk. Been an up and down cycle with relationships for me. It’s a bit rough. But like, I had no sense of style before So I’m working on that. BUT also I’ve had the best success just being myself.
deltic
deltic5d ago
that’s the key, dress how you like, be the person you like to be and you’ll do great that’s the best thing to learn when it comes to fashion and style, if you’re confident you can make most things look good (kinda)
senseofphysics
senseofphysicsOP4d ago
Yea I know what you mean It’s not the style that’s gonna make me successful, the fashion is just an expression or “the cherry on top” Something like that But thanks bro I appreciate it I always loved the look of wranglers. Not too common in NYC college campuses here but I don’t mind standing out. Any shirt you think I can pair the fit with? Even jacket

senseofphysics

Like an olive green But they’ve faded a bit I love them, but they’re a bit too slim fit G-Star Raw’s slim fit is close to skinny
LlamaλWave
LlamaλWave4d ago
I've been looking for inspo pics and I think some people un-slim pants by slicing the outside seam and adding a triangle of some other contrasting fabric. No clue what it takes for a sewing machine to manage that with jeans, but I wonder how scraps from bluejeans would look as side accents.

Just focus on wearing the rings you like, how you like. Whether a girl finds it masculine or otherwise is dependent how you wear it, but the best advice for life and finding someone to share it with to take the time to live a life you seriously enjoy and becoming someone you respect, the right people for you who do the same in their own life will find you and you'll find them doing this. You need to attract people who are into you by doing and saying things that are authentic, or they'll be attracted to a caricature of yourself that you constructed and you'll always feel weirdly alone no matter how many people are in the room As for fashion and style, poke around in inspiration and waywt, and feel free to ask questions. We're all so into this stuff that spend time posting and talking about it on a discord, everyone here loves to nerd out on their inspos and waywt posts.
