I've never owned sunglasses in my life help

Am hoping to pick up some sunglasses before the weather gets warm, but I am utterly clueless. Looking for suggested brands or stores to check out. I don't exactly have a great frame of reference for how much sunglasses cost so whatever "mid range" is. Was looking through old top waywts from summer and aviators are jumping out at me but would be open to being given brainworms in another direction as well. Definitely prefer more understated designs than bolder ones for stuff like this. Also any info that I might need other than where to buy would be appreciated as I'm truly unaware, do sunglasses have sizes? Is it important to try them on in person?

Hi, i think there are many sunglasses that aren’t aviators that work with your style And sunglasses do have sizes! But it’s usually one style is one size and not like they come in different sizes And luxottica gets a bad rep but they do have stores everywhere for you to try on just to see what kinda sunglasses might suit your fancy

are there maybe specific words for styles that might also fit that I could poke around for? def need to do more inspo searching, should head back to the waywt backlog. is it the kind of sizes where I need to get myself measured somehow, or the kind where I try things on until they fit not one near me but maybe can visit one while traveling, ty

yeah I more so meant like I'm unsure if there's more "general categories" of designs than just "aviator"

GAFILTA SUN
There may be plenty of fish in the sea, but The GAFILTA is a good catch for a reason! Stuffed with ribbed filigree metal, a double-bar nose bridge, and served with a side of a color-coordinating sweat bar – no need to fish for compliments in this frame, they’ll come right to ya! Lookin' for an eyeglass? Shop The GAFILT

glasses also come in a super vast price range I'd figure out what you are willing to pay first midrange for me is around 200 per pair but that might be different for you also if you arent getting prescription lenses, that def brings the price down a bit unless you're going for something really designerly if you go in person, find a pair that fits your face really well that has measurements available online so you know generally what sizes to look for most important measurements are the total width and the length of the arms

200 sounds like a reasonable amount to me too, probably would not be smart to go over that for a first pair anyway

Hello this is ur fellow luxottica rep here, giving you some quick tips: luxottica brands have really bad quality control when it comes to a lot of their luxury brands. If you want sunglasses from them id stick to the following brands: Tom Ford Gorgio Armani Rayban (especially the made in japan ones) Oakley (lenses scratch incredibly easy but the frames are a rock) Maui jim (2 year warranty from maui themselves) Oliver peoples Persol If you have any questions about anything sunglass hut related lmk Also if you want me to proxy you anything i get 50-70% off Cheers

Browline (famous one is Ray Ban Clubmasters), Wayfarer, Keyhole, etc are classic styles. Cat's Eye and Butterfly are more commonly marketed to women but you can obviously wear w.e you want.

the MFA substack has a backup of an old page on sunglasses, this is the more pertinent part:

beyond that, sunglasses come in so many form factors and designs that there's no real definition to them beyond shape, material, size, color, etc
