for backstory, i was switching between my pc and an optiplex i picked up so i could set it up, and then i lost my 1440p and 144hz
i switched cable and can get 2560x1440 again but still no 144hz, and this time not even an option for 50

this happened 1-2 days ago so ofc ive tried restarting pc, unplugging monitor, etc
and if i were to plug into the only other hdmi port on my monitor, a 75 hz port. not 60, i still cant change to a different refresh rate
oh and i also cant see anything cuz the monitor isnt getting a signal
but if i change it to 1080p with the 2nd cable, i can change 50/60/61(same as orignal cable at 1080p) but it also has 120hz
im hoping this can be fixed with like
changing a number in a file from 60 to 144
or a command to do that
i rly dont wanna play at 2880x480 on a 1440p display
oh yay i lost the 61hz on the original cable
so im back to just 50/60
something i notice is that if i play on a different monitor, which supports up to 75hz, but playing on 60, i get the same screen effect that i would playing the game at 50 hz on a 60hz display
