fatal error on steam deck while installing
almost no experience with atomic linux installation so i'k at a loss for what this means or how to solve it :/

Solution:Jump to solution
i solved the issue. i wasn't able to properly boot the kinoite installer at all. i tried using my official dock instead of my ugreen usb hub and everything is fixed. bazzite is installing just fine now. so it was my usb hub the whole time...

If you check our documentation there's a troubleshooting section under install that covers this exact error
i dont think this solution applies for me because this is my first time installing an atomic distro on this device and the efi partition is empty. theres nothing to delete

im coming straight from steamos and ive completely wiped my drive
try wiping the drive again and deleting all existing partitions
ive tried that 4 times now :p
same error
reclaim space, delete all, etc
same as i always do when i install fedora
Could be an issue with your installer?
You are auto partitioning, correct?
yup
not sure if its relevant but im also encrypting the disk, logging into my wifi network, changing the hostname, changing the username, and adding a user password
All of which is totally fine, you don't need to log into the network to do the install but doing so won't hurt you
I would say that's ideal actually
i just checked the checksum and its identical to the one on the site
and i tested the media with the option in grub
no problems
Stray NVRAM entries probably?
how can i check/deal with that?
efibootmgr
in a tty I’ll say
after wiping the drive all the steamos efi entries are gone
"linpus lite" is my flash drive, no idea why its called that
Then it should be fine…
Have you tried plain Fedora silverblue/kionite?
nope, kinda had my heart set on bazzite for this thing
Then I would suggest starting from there and rebasing to bazzite
wouldnt i miss out on the bazzite setup thing? kinda wanted to go through that
You can run the bazzite portal app later I think
that's part of the magic. rebasing allows you to get all of the packages and secret sauce of different setups without reformatting
this is correct
