Ran gnome-session and broke everything ahaha help
So, I was trying to figure out a way to remotely login while on the login screen (not looking for an answer to that, just explaining how I got here). So as an experiment, I logged out, and while sitting on the login screen, SSH'd in and just sent the command
gnome-session to see what would happen. It looked like nothing did, so I tried to login through the graphical interface. It hung the whole system, so I restarted. Now I can login (graphically), but quite a few things are broken. There's no more bazzite icon/drop-down in the upper-left corner, my system tray is completely empty (beforehand I had about 4 apps that all ran at startup), the mouse gesture that pulls up the dock when I touch the bottom of the screen no longer works, various extensions (like my window manager) aren't running, etc. Basically it feels like the gnome settings have all been reset, but I'm definitely still logged into the same user as before. (Same home directory, desktop wallpaper same as it was before, and so on.)
I guess I can't say definitively that running gnome-session is what broke it, but it's the only thing I can think of that I did between my session working and not working. (Also "sessions" is a Linux concept I still haven't quite wrapped my head around, so it just feels like an area I'd mess up easily.) I've tried restarting several times, logging out and logging in, rolling back to older versions, and nothing works.

NEVER MIND I found the answer immediately after a quick discord search. but I'll leave this here in case somebody else finds it via search.
looks like my gnome session crashed so it just disabled all my extensions. I ran Extension Manager and enabled Use Extensions and everything's all good again. 🫡...
