grub only appears after shutdown and boot, never on reboot from bazzite

running bazzite-nvidia-open on a desktop pc. windows is installed on one drive (first) and then i installed bazzite on a second drive. dual booting largely works fine, but for some reason, grub never appears after a reboot from bazzite (it does from windows). I have to shutdown then cold boot to see the grub menu. if I press delete (or whatever to enter bios) boot halts (so i suspect i’ve entered bios) but i never see any video output. ditto if i hit arrow keys while the grub menu is shown but not visible - boot halts but there’s no video output. those are assumptions though - as i can’t see anything i’m just guessing at what it’s doing. everything works fine after a shutdown and clean boot though. and windows works correctly on reboots - it’s just if i was in bazzite and reboot that i have issues.

IIRC, GRUB menu is hidden after first successful Bazzite boot. I have 3 OSes on 1 hard drive and I'm using Bazzite's GRUB to switch between them. I enabled GRUB menu with ujust configure-grub in terminal so it's always visible on all boots. See if that works for you.

i've done that - i think that's why it works if i shutdown then start
