Filson vs Buck Mason?
Is there any considerable difference between these two "outdoor" brands at their price points, looking for some rugged clothing+accessories that can be paired with a variety of styles ranging from ivy to workwear.

They're both good (though arguably modern Filson is overpriced)
I've only seen a few Buck Mason pieces in person, but Filson stuff is really really sturdy
That's good to know, Buck Mason got on my radar a while back with their last collab ngl.
Do you prefer one over the other? Like in terms of items like pants or jackets?
oh wait i'm dumb, skipped over the last msg.
I have more Pendleton and Woolrich than either in that outdoorsy type stuff honestly (all of it vintage)
Those are def good brands
might be overkill for me but these def look interesting

(Filson Oil Finish Double Tin Cloth Pants)
Ngl buck mason's pants look kinda slim in terms of cut
not a deal breaker for me but, something to note.
I think filson is more of an outdoors/ranch/workwear brand. They got their start selling to logger and miners in the PNW and Alaska. Buck mason is more of a fashion brand.
Like those tin cloth pants are cool but they are definitely made as work wear (you can’t wash them) so just keep that in mind.
That's fine with me, yeah Filson at first glance has a bit more specialised heavy duty stuff.
Definitely some difference in lineage between the companies.
Buck Mason - 2013
Filson - 1897
For sure
Filson is overpriced at MSRP now, but it's so well built that the second hand market is a great place to find Filson.
