Fit Check on Japanese Denim - Follow up to previous post

After my previous post where a number of people said the jeans I tried didn't fit I decided to take a day I was going shopping anyway and tried on as many different brands as I could. I tried to get mostly high rise and straight leg fits. I have a few pictures and then the tag following. Can you tell me which ones fit the best or what else I should try? List of jeans in order: Iron Heart 634S sz 36 Iron Heart 822 sz 38 Iron Heart 822 sz 40 Iron Heart 634Z sz 38 Momotaro straight sz 36 SC40401A sz 36 TCB special sz 40 Full Count 0105 sz 38 Warehouse Lot 1010 sz 38 Oni 200 sz 36 Oni 222 sz 38 Pure Blue Japan KS-15OZ-013 sz 40 Samurai S3000VXII sz 40 Most shops at pretty limited stock for my size but it is what it is. Thanks for any help

Samurai, fullcounts or either the Oni 200 or the 222 look to fit best

I'm surprised you said Oni 200 because that's a size 36 and in the other thread the 288 jeans had a waist that was too small but according to Hinoya's website size 38 288 are 2 inches bigger. Is there not also bunching in the crotch? For the 222 I am always worried about excess fabric in the back rise making it look like a diaper. Same with the fullcounts. What do you think about the Momotaro and Warehouse ones?

Tag sizes are meaningless in all honesty. How the pair fits is the most important thing. Just because the waist measurement may be smaller it all depends on the the rise of the pair (higher rise the waist will sit higher in your body), how the top block is constructed will affect this also I think the warehouse look pretty decent too. Not personally a fan of the momotaro pair

"Not personally a fan of the momotaro pair" why not?

I didn't see any bunching on the 200s but it could be the lighting from the picture. In terms of excess fabric in the seat with the 222s it's a tough one because in some instances that material can tighten up with washes and sometimes it doesn't. I don't have any experience with that pair though so couldn't say if it would or not Just not a fan of the denim. It's a personal preference, I think the fit looks pretty decent I guess you just have to decide which pair you like most out of the ones that fit best

I'm mainly trying to understand why the jeans fit well. And yeah I saw first hand the tags don't mean anything lol, there were a few 36 size pants I couldn't even try to get buttoned up, like the Samurai 3000X.

Fit is going to be determined by how the top block is constructed, think hip width (something that isn't included in most size charts) as well as how the yoke on the rear of the jeans is constructed. It's very hard to determine that by size charts alone as the size chart gives you flat dimensions and jeans are a 3D pattern. For myself it's mostly been trial and error to find pairs I really like the fit of The benefit for you seems to be that you are currently in Japan and can try multiple pairs on to find what you like
