P Block Group 13 Oxidation State problem
it says here that the relative stability of +1 oxidation state increaees
my question is: relative to what???
is +1 State more stable down the group in comparison to +3 of these elements??
or is +1 state more stable in the sense that +1 of Tl > In > Ga

to close the thread when your doubt is solved. Mention the users who helped you solve the doubt. This will be added to their stats.+1 to higher oxdn states
Down the group, +1 becomes more and more stable compared to higher oxdn states
sooo +1 for these elements is more stable than +3 for these elements
@Opt
dude
help
quick please
Yes yes
Look up inert pair effect
You should have come across it before
I HAVE BUT THING IS FOR In +3 SEEMS TO BE MORE STABLE THAN +1
SOOOO
IS THAT CORRECT??
BRO MY TEACHER HASNT TAUGHT SO MUCH SHIT
I FEEL LIKE IM GONNA MESS THIS TEST UP CUZ OF HER
@Opt
Idk p block ngl

INSANE AMOUNT OF DETAIL AND CLARITY
bro our teacher frr just told us ki for In and Tl +3 is more stable 💀
There are many questions related to this in mains so our sir taught us this topic in detail
He also explained why it is for only three and not other elements
humko bhi samjha dijiye 🙏
Bas remember ki boron, carbon aur nitrogen family ke last elements ki lower o.s is more stable than its higher o.s
It happens because jaise jaise hum niche ja rahe shielding badh rahi hai jisse zeff badh raha hai
Ek interesting point bhi sir ne bataya ki last elements ke higher o.s mei ionization energy is more or less equal to lattice energy
But baaki mei unki higher o.s mei ionization energy is less than lattice energy

WOAH
THANKU
@Phalawor yaha par ye nhi bol rha tha ki I think yaha pe +1 is more stable than +3 I think
hello?
Stability of +1 decreases down the group
but They're still stable than +3 compounds till indium
Thalium mein +1 overtakes in stability
like aise hoga
Al+3 >>>Al+1
Ga+3 >>ga+1
In+3>In+1
Tl+1>Tl+3
i see i see
this couldve been so much better worded in NCERT dude i can see why its a pain to read
anwyays thanks yall
i got it
