Using gamescope causes controller to not work
I'm running a game with gamescope (monster hunter rise), and when I do, my controller no longer gets picked up by the game. I'm using gamescope with this command:
DXVK_HDR=1 gamescope -f --hdr-enabled -W 2560 -H 1440 -- %command%
The command seems to otherwise be working. I've tried adding the -e
arg as well as I read somewhere that that can help with controller issues, but that just makes the window not fit my screen properly, still with controller issues.
I've also tried messing with steam input on/off. Nothing there worked
This is on bazzite with KDE.

upstream issue, gamescope breaks steam stuff and you need to set the desktop layout for steam input to "gamepad" for it to work

upstream issue, gamescope breaks steam stuff and you need to set the desktop layout for steam input to "gamepad" for it to work
so valve needs to fix
how do I do that?
steam settings

ok, that sorta works. Looks like it just translates gamepad to keyboard? The game shows keyboard prompts, and nothing is really configured correctly so I suppose I need to go and fix all that?
change the template to gamepad
or did you not read what i originally said?
ah ok, got it. Sorry for missing that
working perfectly now
great
sadly if you rely on the desktop layout for navigating the desktop with the controller you need to swap between them constantly
not ideal but what else can we do 🤷
shouldn't be an issue, I use my desktop as a desk computer
