Rebase Image
How do I rebase my Bazzite for my steam deck to start in big screen mode instead of desktop mode? Without redoing the process with a usb.

use the bazzite rebase helper (or
brh
for short)
https://docs.bazzite.gg/Installing_and_Managing_Software/Updates_Rollbacks_and_Rebasing/bazzite_rollback_helper/?h=
if youre on the gnome image you rebase to bazzite-deck-gnome:stable
if youre on the kde image (same look as steamos desktop) then rebase to bazzite-deck:stable
Bazzite Rollback Helper - Bazzite Documentation
Bazzite is a custom image built upon Fedora Atomic Desktops that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices.
dont use unverified registry to rebase between ublue image
That's the command the website gives to rebase on steam deck lol
yes because the website assume you come from non-ublue image
Ah well fuck me I guess I've been doing it wrong π
What's the downside of doing it that way if you don't mind me ssking
Because now I need to know if I need to rebase π
Ah I see.
Not the signed version.
rpm-ostree rebase ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/bazzite-deck:stable
That would be the proper one then.yes, but brh is easier between bazzite variant lol
I'm more curious as to how they ended up with desktop Bazzite on steam deck anyways π can't imagine there would be much functionality out the box.
I accidentally rebased to desktop version on my ally, rebasing back was not much fun
Lack of drivers and handheld patches would be 1 issue
The image is not verified to actually be from us (signed by us) when you update. Means you can receive a tampered image from someone doing a mitm attack or similar.
Simplest way to explain
Thanks for explaining. That makes sense
Yeah. Controller doesn't work. No onscreen keyboard.
Luckily I had a USB hub and mouse and keyboard handy
Ya know what's strange? I've been using handheld daemon. For rebasing between testing and stable. And I just realized on the topgrade it shows as a no registry image
Just rebased again and it's confirmed. HHD rebasing uses unverified registry.
Thank you
