Bandcamp DNS not working with CloudFlare domain
Hi, I bought a domain on Cloudflare and followed Bandcamp's instructions for pointing it to my own Bandcamp page, but for some reason it links to Bandcamp's home page instead. I contacted Bandcamp about it, and the support person seemed to acknowledge that I followed the instructions correctly, but asked if I'd asked Cloudflare for support since it still wasn't working. I think contacting Cloudflare is only available on their paid tier, and apparently Bandcamp doesn't have any ideas. I've followed their instructions, so I don't know if I'm missing something else, or should deviate from their instructions. Thanks so much for your help!

My domain is consumer-electronics.online and I'm trying to point that to conselectro.bandcamp.com but it's just going to bandcamp.com (their home page) instead. I've set up these DNS records per Bandcamp's instructions:

The instructions I'm referring to can be found here: https://get.bandcamp.help/hc/en-us/articles/23020691318551-How-do-I-set-up-a-custom-domain-on-Bandcamp
Please change your SSL mode on Cloudflare to Full (Strict)
It looks like you are currently using the insecure Flexible setting.
My SSL/TLS encryption mode is set to Auto, which CloudFlare has set to Full. What gave you the impression that it was on Flexible?
When I send the request directly to the IP in your screenshot, it seems to work. If I send it there via HTTP (port 80), I get redirected to `, same as when requesting the Page via Cloudflare.
Ah okay. Well that's because I tried to set up a temporary redirect while I was waiting on Bandcamp support to address the problem. I can disable that for a moment if it would help you debug
Also not sure what's causing the double slash at the end
Looking more closely, Bandcamp doesn't seem to have a cert for your domain yet. Change your DNS record to DNS-Only until they get one.
Is that under proxy status? Also, I wonder if that lack of a cert is the original problem
I had a friend advise me to try turning the proxy setting to DNS-only for both of those records, but it just made the URL return a security warning
That's expected, it will take some time until they get a certificate and the Security Warning is fixed.
The thing is, I don't know how long that will take. I've had these DNS records set up for weeks, and my original problem of my custom domain redirecting to Bandcamp's home page instead of my subdomain still persists. I've emailed with Bandcamp support, and the representative doesn't understand the issue themselves, but says the engineering team is investigating it
I just don't want my domain to go to the homepage, or an error page. So, I've taken the temporary step of creating a redirect instead, because I have no idea how long it's supposed to take for them to have a certificate for my domain
From the guide you linked:
Due to recent changes in the handling of third-party cookies, we are currently unable to support custom domains. We're continuing to investigate ways to improve the situation. In the meantime, we have set up automatic redirects for any existing custom domains to ensure continued access.
I asked specifically about that line, and this is what they said

So you might just want to keep the records proxied and create the redirects to your bandcamp subdomain directly on Cloudflare.
Though tbh, it seems silly they can't offer real custom domains anymore.
It does, and I don't get it myself, but it's their problem to solve I guess
Funnily enough, they discourage making those redirects on that same help page

Hopefully by disabling "preserve query string" I've prevented the double slash at the end of the redirect url
That shouldn't be related, but I can check tomorrow if I see where that's coming from. Can you show a screenshot of your redirect rule?

Looks good now, no double / anymore.
Cool, thanks for checking! So, as far as my original problem goes, do you think it's entirely on Bandcamp's side to fix? Is there anything I can do with my Cloudflare configuration in the meantime? I can leave the redirect there for the time being as a temporary fix, but I guess I'm wondering where this leaves me as far as next steps towards using my custom domain goes
Until Bandcamp properly supports Custom Domains, I'd leave the redirect in place. There are Workarounds, but they bring other problems with them, so I wouldn't recommend trying them.
Sounds good, well thanks for bearing with me and helping me with my questions!
