Cloudflare Pro Plan vs. Cloudflare Pages Pro Plan
Hey everyone! I’m trying to figure out the difference between the Cloudflare Pro Plan and the Cloudflare Pages Pro Plan. Are they the same thing? The docs are making my head spin a bit—like, do these plans work at the domain level, not the account level? Thanks in advance!

The "Cloudflare Pages Plan" is just off the highest plan in your account. Plans are per domain yea. If you bought Pro plan for a specific website, you get all the Pro plan benefits for that website + the benefits of Pro plan for Pages on that account
Those website plans aren't to be confused with Workers Paid. The Pages Pro/Business levels only effect your concurrent builds / custom domains / build limits. Pages Functions are billed under Workers Paid the same way as normal Workers
I have a couple of domains (e.g., example1.com and example2.com) registered with Cloudflare, and I'm currently on the Free plan. I understand that the Free plan allows up to 200 DNS records per account, but I’m a bit confused about what the 'Unlimited Sites' feature in Cloudflare Pages means.
Does "Unlimited Sites" mean that I can deploy multiple static websites (Cloudflare Pages projects) to different subdomains (like sub1.example1.com, sub2.example1.com, etc.) even on the Free plan, as long as the total number of DNS records per account doesn’t exceed the 200 DNS record limit?
For instance, if I want to host 100 subdomains under example1.com (e.g., sub1.example1.com, sub2.example1.com), is that possible with the Free plan without hitting the DNS record limit? Or would I need to upgrade to Cloudflare Pro for more DNS records?
I’m considering upgrading to the Pro plan for more DNS records, but the documentation isn't very clear on how "Unlimited Sites" applies in this context. What exactly does "Unlimited Sites" mean in terms of Cloudflare Pages?
'Unlimited Sites' feature in Cloudflare Pages means. It's talking about Pages Projects
200 DNS records per accountIt's per domain / website. ex example1.com and example2.com can both have 200 for a combined 400 records. https://developers.cloudflare.com/dns/troubleshooting/faq/#does-cloudflare-limit-the-number-of-dns-records-a-domain-can-have
is that possible with the Free plan without hitting the DNS record limit?Yes The limits that matter to you in that context are: The DNS Records limit per domain / website (200 on free, 3.5k pro/biz) The Cloudflare Pages Custom Domain limit (100 on free, 250 on pro, 500 on biz)
If I sign up for a single Cloudflare Pages Pro Plan, I understand that I can host one static website per root domain and connect up to 250 root domains to Cloudflare Pages within my account. Each root domain is also allowed to have up to 3500 DNS records. If each DNS record corresponds to a subdomain, does this mean I can host 3500 separate static websites under each root domain?
If I sign up for a single Cloudflare Pages Pro Plan, you don't sign up for the Pages Pro plan, you sign up for Cloudflare Pro on a website, and then you get the benefits of it.
, I understand that I can host one static website per root domainYou mean creating pages projects? Those are unlimited and not related to "root domains" or websites in Cloudflare
connect up to 250 root domains to Cloudflare Pages within my account. You can connect 250 different hostnames to each Pages Project w/ the Pro plan. A hostname includes subdomains. That is "sub.example.com "www.example.com "example.com" All count as seperate custom domains / hostnames, 3 in total
Each root domain is also allowed to have up to 3500 DNS records. Each website in your account which has the pro plan yea. Worth noting it's per website
does this mean I can host 3500 separate static websites under each root domain?Would be a weird use case/sounds like something else would be better at that point, but as long as they were seperate pages projects you could put them all under the same Pro plan website, sure.
With the Cloudflare Pro Plan, am I able to have subdomains (e.g., subdomain1.example.com, subdomain2.example.com, etc.) each pointing to separate Pages projects (i.e., separate websites with distinct content for each subdomain)?
In other words, can I host multiple unique websites under different subdomains, each with its own Pages project, using the Pro plan?
You don't need Pro plan for that, but yes
Pro plan in regards to this context/Pages pretty much just increases limits, it doesn't enable any features
So, to confirm:
Can I host multiple unique websites under different subdomains, each pointing to its own Pages project, using only the Cloudflare Pages Free Plan?
Does the Cloudflare Pro Plan only come into play when managing a large number of DNS records or subdomains, and is it not needed to enable the Pages project feature?
Can I host multiple unique websites under different subdomains, each pointing to its own Pages project, using only the Cloudflare Pages Free Plan?Yes
is it not needed to enable the Pages project feature?Has nothing to do with enabling Pages Projects creation. In the context of Pages Projects, it increases Custom Domains, Concurrent Builds/Builds, and it also increases your DNS Records limit for the website it is on. Pro of course has other benefits too like the waf, better analytics, etc
I understand that with the Cloudflare Pages Free Plan, I can:
- Create unlimited Pages projects, which are separate static websites.
- Assign custom domains (subdomains or root domains) to Pages projects, but I'm limited to 100 custom domains on the Free Plan.
Here’s my confusion: If I have 100 subdomains (e.g., subdomain1.example.com, subdomain2.example.com, etc.), that counts as 100 custom domains, right? So far, that makes sense. However, if I reach the limit of 100 custom domains, what happens to any new Pages projects that I create after this point? Am I still able to create unlimited Pages projects, but without being able to assign custom domains to them? What’s the actual use of having unlimited Pages projects if I can’t link them to custom domains after the 100 limit?
The custom domain limit is per pages project. Each one gets 100 on free
https://developers.cloudflare.com/pages/platform/limits/#custom-domains
There is a soft limit on projects of 100 too, that you have to contact Cloudflare and explain your use case after reaching, doesn't cost you anything though
