Frame rate capped at 30 in 16:10 resolutions?
I'm seeing the weirdest thing on my new Bazzite setup. When I set the resolution to 1920x1200 in game mode, the whole system gets capped to 30fps. Big Picture Mode and in game.
I noticed this when I went to stream from my steam Deck. I change the resolution to 16:10 before I stream with Sunshine, to utilize the entire screen. I tried it without streaming as well, and it does it.
Has anyone seen this or know what it might have to do with?
I'm running in HTPC mode attached to a 4K 60hz TV with a 7900 XTX. FWIW, I used to do the same thing with my ChimeraOS build and this never happened.

Try open at the Steam side menu CTRL+2 or HOME+A or HOME+X double check that the FPS isn't limited to 30 fps
It's not. It's set to 60.
Try open your screen settings and check what the fps is set to on the monitor settings. Maybe it's doing something weird there
Also do you have decky installed and plugins?
I do have decky installed, but just TabMaster and SteamGridDB, nothing particularly intense.
I tried setting the resolution to 1920x1200 in desktop mode, and it seemed to stay at 60fps. It seems to only be happening in gamescope.
Does it happen for all games? Also what version of Bazzite are you on? Think it shows in the steam settings
yeah, it's not even a game thing. Gamescope immediatly drops to a 30 fps limiter
big picture mode goes to 60
the second i change res, it just immediatly goes from 60 to 30
it first happened in 1920x1200, but happens in other 16:10 aspects. But it doesn't happen in 16:9 ones! it's so very bizarre
I'm on the latest. I just installed Bazzite Sunday night.
If you want to experiment you could try Nobara and see if the issue occurs there. Then you can see if the issue is something in the Fedora landscape or just Bazzite. But yeah I have no idea how to fix that sorry. I game at 1080p at 60fps lol
Thanks. Yeah it’s so very weird. I just tried a bunch of 16:10 resolutions and they all capped at 30. I just tried 1680x1050 and it’s 60. lol. Completely wacky.
And the issue is only in gamemode, not desktop mode?
yup
