Immich is storing my files in a weird way.
I thought Immich would just create a 2024 folder, then have monthly sub folders [jan, feb, march], the in those individual days[1, 2, 4, 5,] ? Mine instead is a bunch of letters and random images in each. I only have 4gb of images and video's uploaded so far so I'm fine if i need to wipe everything out and start fresh. But I would like it this was because I use these photos and videos as an SMB share well so i can access these via windows. Photography is my profession and I will allows need access to these.

I have it set up this way and i even hit run under jobs and it says running for like 3 seconds then the green bar disappears.

Can you check there are folder and file in
library
folder?
the upload
folder will always have those empty folderthere are no folders of this structure. just a folder that is a bunch of letters and numbers. screenshots from file browser

Maybe a matter of some permissions related to Truenas I remember there were some similar cases in the past.
Can you provide logs?
ok, so i deleted everything and started fresh and i made datasets for everything. we are almost there. i have the folder structure set up and its perfect. year then month, then images. but i created a second user named "jerry" and for some reason that folder shows up as a bunch of letters and numbers as well. which is very confusing in the smb share. Can i just rename the folder? I think this would likely break something.

Thank you. Got it. Can i delete the now that it is migrated to the new folder?
I assume it should do it on its own but I'm not sure.
Can you try running it?

Still there. even when i changed the admin profile to my name it is still there with some empty folders within. If i do delete them manually would that break anything?
This shouldn't cause any problems assuming all folders are indeed empty, but I can't tell you for sure, maybe it's worth waiting for Alex's answer.
Where is that admin folder? In the screenshot
Can you help show the full path?
I deleted them but this is where the full path was.

When you click into Dave and Steph, what do you see?
the correct folders. ,months then days then images. Just was curious if i could delete the random named folders, which i already did and i have no issues.
