i've tried multiple different usb sticks. i've tried imaging them with rufus, i've tried imaging them with etcher, and i've tried using ventoy.
i've tried both gnome and kde version of the deck release
This is where it ultimately ends up

i'm sure i'm doing something wrong i just dont know what
I personally use fedora media writer and do not have issues - might be worth a try
When we want to download the iso for the steam deck there is a message :
If you're having issues booting this ISO, ensure the Setup Utility -> USB Configuration -> USB Dual Role Device setting in your BIOS is set to XHCI and not DRD
Have you change this setting?
Weirdly I booted into the os and ran updates and for whatever reason it started working
I don’t know why that would fix anything. Maybe it included a bios update or maybe it was a coincidence
