My mod manager can't access this file, I don't know why, and on multiple mods
Solution:Jump to solution
When you installed the game you probably also ran Steam as admin, or Steam requested admin to install the game there. So now, the whole game folder is marked as requiring admin permissions to create/modify/delete files. And SMM has to install mods to the game dir, so it needs to extract the mod files there, and because that folder needs admin permissions, you have to run SMM as admin.
Running SMM as admin isn't really recommended, specifically because the files would then require admin, but because your game dir requires admin already, it shouldn't cause issues...

Key Details for SMMDebug-2025-01-26-18-51-35.zip
triggered by @scatcatTry deleting that file (
D:\g\steamapps\common\Satisfactory\FactoryGame\Mods\default-lock.json
) in file explorer and see if it lets you. If not, try restarting your PCI do not a ( Mods ) file but I will restarting my PC
Make sure you're at the correct location, the game install dir, not AppData
where do I find dir
Paste the path
D:\g\steamapps\common\Satisfactory\FactoryGame\Mods
into the windows search bar, the file explorer navbar, or in the window that opens when you press windows key + Rthis is what I get

Huh
If you restarted your PC already, try opening SMM to install whatever mods you were trying to install before and see if that works
all those mods say the exact same thing

If you try to create that Mods folder there, does windows let you?
it does the same thing
Try running SMM as admin then
ok
That works. Can you explain to me why that works
