Alternatives to chinos/kahkis?
Hey everyone, I want to buy a couple of pairs of pants but don't want to buy chinos or jeans. I want something that is a little outside of that 'comfort zone', but nothing crazy. I want them to have a regular or athletic fit (I've got big thighs) and be available in neutral colors. I've looked at corduroy pants as an option, but I would like to learn about different choices (and also your opinions on corduroy pants) Feel free to drop a link or name (I'm also open to buying second-hand). Max budget for each pair would be ~75 USD. Thanks!

Any pictures of what you do like?
Corduroy and fatigues are the first things that come to my mind. Totally depends what direction you want to go. Wool trousers are obviously also "different" but sounds like not what you are going for?
cargo pants(stan ray are pretty cheap and good), 107 fatigues, carpenter pants

Here are a few outfits I saw the other day and that I liked
I'm definitely more in the classic side
Not a big fan of cargos tbh
And not super familiar with fatigue pants, I'll have to check those out
So these are either ecru denim or 5 pocket corduroy. Seems like jean-cut trousers but not chino. Flat front still.
Thanks!
Carpenter or painter pants maybe?
Muji has had corduroys in your price range recently. I like both the straight fit with drawstring (on the thinner side) and the wider without drawstring (thicker). Don’t know if they’re all still available.
Actually they both have a drawstring
Thanks! This one seems to be the only available one: https://www.muji.us/products/mens-corduroy-easy-pants-ae0xy24a?_pos=1&_sid=0c08281d3&_ss=r

Men's Corduroy Easy Pants
Corduroy easy pants made from soft, brushed organic cotton. Easy and relaxed fit for all day comfort. The hidden drawstring on the inner waist allows for an adjustable fit while keeping a clean outer appearance.
I wore that pant today
How's the fit/size/quality?
The rise is pretty long (for me - I don’t wear a high rise), the fit is pretty generous but that’s what the drawstring is for. The quality is good for the $35 they’re priced at now. The material is a bit thin and the cord ribs are not substantial. I actually think they could work in warmer weather than my other cords for this reason.
not a specific recommendation but "twill pants" or "five pocket pants" are an option—basically jean fit from a material that's similar to denim but not exactly. If you think of chinos as between jeans and dressier pants, twill pants would be like between jeans and chinos
