I chose kde and 1920 1080 I’ve also used 180 hertz on windows so I know it’s a Linux problem

there's a chance that windows is using chroma subsampling 4:2:0 or DSC to slightly lower the image quality and make more bandwidth for higher refresh rate though, if you're being limited by the type of cable you're using can you provide info about what type of system you are using? like, a handheld, laptop, desktop PC, and how it's connected to your screen. what cable, through any dock/adapter, etc

Can you try DP? Or perhaps another HDMI cable?

You can also try different inputs on your monitor if it has multiple HDMI ports On my monitor HDMI port 1 has more bandwidth than 2

Welp I tried all my hdmi even in different ports too and nothing

Alright

I’ll get a display port soon and see how that goes

It should help, as it has higher bandwidth than most HDMI versions

True thanks for the help

What GPU and monitor do you have?
Dino

Rtx 3070 and a acer nitro That goes up to 180 hertz

I see. If you can find the exact monitor model number on the sticker of the back of the monitor I can investigate how much bandwidth it should be able to support on each port

Right, so it has dual HDMI 2.0 ports

So that means?

That should support up to 246hz at 1920x1080. But if anything drops it down to HDMI 1.4 (such an the cable being old or bad, or any type of adapter/splitter/HDMI switch you may have between the GPU and the screen) then the refresh rate will not go higher than 146hz without DSC or chroma subsampling I am not sure but there is also a chance that it could be driver related. Nvidia support on bazzite is very fresh still You could try to see if you’re able to hit 180hz at a lower resolution, such as 1280x720 If it does that, it’s probably an indicator that the your HDMI connection is somehow limited to 1 .4 speed

It won’t even let me change the hertz on 1280x720 it’s stuck at 60

Oh funky That could be an EDID issue tho

This is very weird

That’s a HDR screen you have too, so that also uses some bandwidth if enabled
Dino
DinoOP5d ago
I have that disabled

Your max hz will be lower with HDR on than off Alright
Dino
DinoOP5d ago
Has to be a driver issue
mefLL
mefLL5d ago
Possibly. I don’t have any experience with nvidia as I use AMD myself but it will be interesting to see if DP helps
Dino

For sure I’ll see soon

So 144hz isn’t an option you can choose? At 1080

That also goes black Anything above 120 just doesn’t work
