They only show in the lowest of each rank @lyra @vxrse
Bronze 1, silver 1, gold 1, etc
It’s a shield for ranking back down
So if you lose a game at zero RR
you get another chance
If you rank up/down and then go back to silver 1, they refresh (iirc)
You basically get 2 shield ranks
When are you are at gold 1 0rr
You can lose 2 matches without actually demoting to silver 3

i played on my brothers setup and hes iron and they litterally didnt shoot me half the time in the 2 games he played

if you cant win ur 1s in iron then teammates arent the problem bro, keep playing and try to keep the 'my teammates suck' mindset out even if its true
