When the North pole of the magnet approaches the loop, the magnetic field through the loop increases. To oppose this increase, the loop will induce a current that creates its own magnetic field pointing in the opposite direction of the magnet's field. This creates a negative EMF (represented by the initial negative peak in Graph A) source: gemini. lenz's law basically induced current will flow in a direction that opposes the change in magnetic flux.
