Feeling like I’m in a rut: Constructive Criticism and Inspo appreciated
Hey guys. Perhaps this is a problem relating to more than just fashion for me atm, but I feel like I’m in a rut. I like what I’m wearing but feel like I’m suffering from a total lack of inspiration- just putting something on with little thought. I also know I’m “improving”, in whatever vague sense that can be applied to fashion, but unsure how to go the next step in building a robust personal style.
Would appreciate if anyone had some fun/interesting westernwear or ivy inspo. Will also attach some recent outfits, non-fitpics of outfits and my pinterest board. Thanks in advance

Will give them a look though, cheers
you need to spend your next six or seven paychecks on Wythe
haha, on the one hand i’d love to, but on the other god i can’t afford to
Given there’s a lot of pins here, some of my favourites:
Have you tried accessories yet? Jewelry, cowboy hat/boots, buckles, dog/horse
Jewellery I’ve got two rings I wear daily, but they’re very simple copper and “silver” bands. I’d kinda like to have some more rings. Hat is being shipped as we speak haha. As for buckles/belts it’s something that’s been on my list for a while but honestly I don’t know where to begin looking (UK based if that helps)
Dog and horse, however, my landlord might dislike haha
I feel like your fits are close if not already at the level of some of your favorite pins. Hard when the photos benefit from the vibes of things like celebrity/cars/outdoors. Maybe you are just looking to add more “drama” to your fits? I find accessories for me helps that, or just adding individual pieces with a lot of flair
Like I bet you’ll see a bunch of your fits in a new light just with the hat
Honestly you might be on the money there, I think some of them are genuinely decent. You’re definitely right with the hard to stack it up against celebrities etc. I’m definitely wanting to accessorise a bit more. Thinking of possibly getting a bolo tie in the near-ish future too
Here’s hoping haha. Thank you, man
Equally if anyone does have some constructive criticism it’s more than welcome
I mean it's not really criticism so much as a suggestion but I think you could do well with some more colored shirts. something like this for example would pair really well with all the denim you like to use https://wythenewyork.com/products/moleskin-pearlsnap-shirt-wintergreen
Wythe New York
Moleskin Pearlsnap Shirt - Wintergreen
Inspired by classic chamois shirts with a slight western edge. These shirts are made of super soft cotton moleskin that feels like a well-worn vintage shirt straight out of the package. The cream pearl snaps are recreated from old enamel pearl snaps from the 50s that have yellowed with age. 100% Cotton, custom-milled m
obviously there's cheaper options out there (wrangler comes to mind)
I just think double denim + a bright pearlsnap is an undefeated western look
Oh that’s super nice. Got a couple similar pieces but buttoned rather than snaps. There’s that navy one in the pics, got a red one and a white-ish one too. Need to dig them out haha. Pearl snaps definitely rule the western world
To be fair, I think part of my problem is entirely mental, almost “it can’t be that easy” lmao
I would suggest looking into some classic Western films for inspo. Some examples include Once Upon a Time in the West, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Naked Spur, McCabe and Mrs Miller.
Love Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, will definitely give the others a watch/look into
as much as anything I’ve been wanting some more westerns on my watchlist so thanks haha
Cool, if you want more recs I'd be happy to help. Film is an even bigger interest for me than fashion. I think this list covers the Western genre quite well: https://www.slantmagazine.com/features/the-100-best-westerns-of-all-time/

The western has proved itself a durable, influential way of talking about the human condition.
what a cool list. Love El Topo myself
given this makeup of fits is it possible you might be more of a westernwear fan than of ivy?
if you haven't read 'black ivy' it's a good source of inspiration - there's more emphasis on color, pattern, and texture in those fits, be it through a bright ocbd, a patterned sweater or sport coat, or repp stripe tie
