Vercel and DDOS Protection

I run this site for a YouTuber and my usage spiked and went over the free plan limit. I looked into the issue and within an hour, someone made 250k requests to my site. I have DDOS protection enabled I thought. I’m confused on how it got bypassed.

Well I was on free plan so it just paused my deployment I had to upgrade So I can get the site back up

Well does the DDOS protection work or no? Or do I have to implement like cloudfare or something? Is this normal I got another mail from Mongo(yes ik there are much better faster solutions) saying I’m exceeding the number of connections for the free plan. Seems like a ddos attack

I mean vercel claims to somehow check sus requests and then there attack-challenge-mode absolutely, I honestly thought vercel uses cloudflare under the hood somehow

Yea but it was at 5am 😂 I can’t just know there a ddos attack and enable the challenge mode Cuz Vercel says that u shouldn’t enable the challenge mode unless you know there is an attack in progress Seems kinda counter intuitive if you ask me

absolutely, and running it all the time is also cumbersome i would just do another deployment and live on

Well I already paid money. I didn’t know that would work I added a spending limit So if it does happen again, it pauses the deployment

ok, how much did you pay? is it a fixed price or do you pay on demand?
