TDP not staying constant in certain games
Hey all, am new to bazzite and just installed it on my Onexfly F1 Pro. So far everything looks good except for TDP performance, where the TDP will drop all the way to 6-9W for around 30 seconds in certain games despite it being set to 30W TDP.
It seems like Bazzite is changing the TDP based on what it thinks the software needs, likely to preserve battery. In certain games, though, it will drop the TDP performance way too low and ends up making them unplayable at 2-10fps. Is there any way to set up Bazzite to not do this? Or to set the TDP to use strictly the inputted setting in the QAM menu?
Any help greatly appreciated πππ

Be careful, it might be overheating
6W is the AMD protection feature
What temps would it need to hit for this feature to go off?
i cant say, depends on how the manufacturer did the protection
anything close to 100
The device never really goes above 72C but mostly hovers around 58C-64C when it happens
ahh makes sense
also spikes can cause it
Definitely isnt thermal throttling then from what Im seeing
so even if it doesnt reach it in the UI it can happen
the legion go had the same issue
it throttled at 80c
Yea I originally thought it was a throttle protection feature that AMD does in bazzite specifically, but when doing more testing I narrowed the problem down to the problem being The Finals specifically and not multiple games
Monster Hunter World, Modded Minecraft Java, Black Desert, Luma Island, etc. all work perfectly at the same (or higher) temps
But when the TDP limiting happens it's exclusively in that one game for like 3-30 seconds
Oh yea just checked it further today, it actually goes to 15W when it happens usually, lowest it hits is actually 10W not 6W haha
it only hits 6W in loading screens which seems like a normal behavior since it does it in all other games when they load
Did more testing, turns out this is a Proton compatability issue and unrelated to Bazzite as a whole. Gonna mark this as fixed since Bazzite isn't the thing causing the issue
