Games suddenly won’t run
I’m having a really strange and sudden issue on my legion go. I updated bazzite, and a lot of games will suddenly not really load. They won’t crash, but they’ll be stuck on a black screen, and steam overlay won’t work at all. Trying to go into sleep mode will sometimes crash the game, but then my controller won’t work.
I reverted to a previous update and that worked temporarily, until it didn’t anymore. Non steam games run fine, it’s only steam games that are having issues. Anyone know how to fix this?

And now no games are loading at all. They’re just stuck on the steam loading animation.
And now I some games that weren’t working are suddenly working, but steam overlay isn’t at all
And exiting said games through the ingame exit option just leads me to a black screen
I can’t even properly restart the OS. It’ll lead me to a back screen, and then I’ll have to hold the power button to shut it off
I would try and run
ujust fix-reset-steam from the terminal. It logs you out of Steam and It forces Steam to re-install without uninstalling your games. It often fixes bad steam updatesthere is also

Okay so now the issue has once again changed
Games will run. Steam overlay won’t work ingame. Exiting the game softlocks the whole system.
Trying to shut off the system puts me back into the game mode Home Screen, and the controllers won’t work
I’m starting to despise everything about this
The whole thing is now consistently hot too? Even though I’m not doing anything intensive
that command will always fail with exit code 1, its normal because it tries to kill all proton processes and each process that is not found will generate exit code 1

games with anticheat often dont have a working overlay (and if this was on desktop and you ran the game through gamescope it also will not work due to gamescope breaking it since steam is not running in gamescope)

for the controller make sure you have the controller type set to either xbox or steam controller in HHD (press the right legion button 2 times to open it or whichever button you use for the right side menu)

Okay I figured out what’s causing it
Went back to 41.20241230
The latest update seems to be causing whatever’s going on
Alright, I can’t go back to this update anymore. Every single update past it has this issue.
It seems that opening any game causes the controllers to stop working and kills the qam, and games won’t run at all.
